Carmelo Anthony Trade Reports Have Nuggets Star Headed To New Jersey In Four-Team Deal

The Denver Nuggets and three other NBA teams are close to pulling the trigger on a complicated deal that would send all-star forward Carmelo Anthony to the New Jersey Nets, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.

Wojnarowski reports that the deal would send the Nets' first-round pick Derrick Favors and future first-round picks back to Denver.

ESPN's Marc Stein cites anonymous league sources in confirming Wojnarowski's report, and adds that the deal would also send Utah Jazz forward Andrei Kirilenko to the Nuggets.

Stein reports that the deal would also send New Jersey point guard Devin Harris to the Charlotte Bobcats, and Charlotte forward Boris Diaw to the Jazz.

The deal has not yet been finalized.

The most significant obstacle to the completion of the trade remains Anthony's willingness to sign a long-term extension with New Jersey. Anthony, whose current contract expires at the end of next season, has said he would prefer to be traded to the Chicago Bulls or New York Knicks, but Wojnarowski reports that he is warming up to the idea of playing for the Nets.

They trade away AK and I am done as a Jazz fan.

as a big Jazz fan I would love to get something out of the years of empty investments that was the AK47 contract.
He is a great player, but he gets paid a Kobe type salary...it makes no sense.
Diaw would be a great addition!

If Denver doesn't pull the trigger soon, I know the Bobcats will pull out, at which point the Jazz will have nothing to trade for and the trade will be dead.

Carmello wouldnt mind playing for the Brooklyn Nets via part owner Jay Z, would he?
Still maintains the good guy, didnt go to a blockbuster team.

I like the deal, I wish Denver did.

This is the nature of sports today and why the concpt of "team" has bcome so quaint The whole "every team gets a new look" in 2010 says so much. The product on the court is secondary...just sell those new Jersy's and get your $8 beers. The games are a mere means to a financial end

the nation is in the toilet; I couldn't care less about millionaires with criminal records that you huffpo and the media push on us while we pay cable to watch mostly commercials. Enough already with professional morons.

He once said soccer takes no athletic ability at all. Which couldn't be further from the truth. He also sucker punched a dude during a game, and then backpedaled the length of the court, scared of being hit. He will never, as the star of the team, win a championship. He isn't a man. He is a grown boy, who is used to people getting out of his way, and telling him what he wants to hear. Adversity is something he isn't equipped to handle.

Your last three sentences pretty much describe all big-time professional athletes.

I remember the game you are talking about where Anthony sucker-punched then backpedaled away like a little girl. One of the most cowardly things I've ever seen an NBA player do.

Anthony, just like Iverson will always sink a team down with the me me me attitude.

However, I'm glad to see Raja and Boris back on the same team. Who knows, maybe Utah will surprise everyone this year.

FYI: Since Anthony has been in Denver, they have experianced the most wins and most sellouts in their franchise history.

But it's all about the Chip...how many of those has he brought to Denver? Nobody gives a rip about regular season win totals if it doesn't lead to a title. Period.

New Jersy! Ha, serves him right.
Most over-rated 'franchise' player in the league.

The trade sounds complicated which makes me wonder if it will fall apart.

Hate to see Kirilenko leave Utah. But the addition of Diaw would be a big plus.
12:46 AM on 09/25/2010
Your're right, very over rated.

Boris will be a better fit in Utah than AK.

I, on the other hand, am not sad to see Kirilenko leaving Utah. He is probably the most inconsistent, emotionally unstable, physically fragile, wasted athletic ability, frequently injured player I have ever seen. But then again, I grew up with Stockton to Malone. Perhaps I'm just spoiled. (FYI: I'm also not sad to see Carlos Loozer leave, for nearly the same list of reasons I'm not sad to see AK leave. Just replace "inconsistent" with "lazy on defense")

Boris Diaw seems like a good team player, from what I've seen. Should fit in well in Sloan's system. There was also another player from New Jersey, rumored to be headed to the Jazz in the trade. Quinton Ross, I think? Don't know much about him - wing man, didn't get much playing time last year. Don't know if he will stay or be cut.

Overrated? He is third in the league in scoring. And FYI: The NBA leads MLB, Nascar, Hockey and baseball (america's sport) in TV ratings!

yeah, only people who are #1 and #2 in scoring are superstars, the 3rd ranked scorer means he is a loser? LOL!

When I first read he was going to the nets I said -WTH- but since the new owner is a Russian billionaire with $$$ to burn, maybe they will put together a good team this year???

Lots of owners have money. It takes experienced management and many years to build a contender.
