Carmelo Anthony Trade Reports Have Nuggets Star Headed To New Jersey In Four-Team Deal

Reports: Nuggets Close To A Melo Deal With New Jersey, Two Other Teams

The Denver Nuggets and three other NBA teams are close to pulling the trigger on a complicated deal that would send all-star forward Carmelo Anthony to the New Jersey Nets, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.

Wojnarowski reports that the deal would send the Nets' first-round pick Derrick Favors and future first-round picks back to Denver.

ESPN's Marc Stein cites anonymous league sources in confirming Wojnarowski's report, and adds that the deal would also send Utah Jazz forward Andrei Kirilenko to the Nuggets.

Stein reports that the deal would also send New Jersey point guard Devin Harris to the Charlotte Bobcats, and Charlotte forward Boris Diaw to the Jazz.

The deal has not yet been finalized.

The most significant obstacle to the completion of the trade remains Anthony's willingness to sign a long-term extension with New Jersey. Anthony, whose current contract expires at the end of next season, has said he would prefer to be traded to the Chicago Bulls or New York Knicks, but Wojnarowski reports that he is warming up to the idea of playing for the Nets.
