Police Stop Rape In Progress Near DePaul University Campus

Chicago Police officers stopped a rape in progress late Thursday, near the DePaul University campus in the Lincoln Park neighborhood.

A concerned neighbor called police to the 1100 block of West Dickens Avenue after finding a purse in the back stairwell of a building there, according to NBC Chicago.

Upon arrival, police saw an open window and witnessed a 19-year-old man raping a 28-year-old woman, the Chicago Tribune reports. The rapist was arrested on the scene and charges against him are pending.

The victim was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
