WHY:
On Columbus Day weekend, Park Avenue Armory will host a four-day, indoor Carnival. The 55,000 square-foot Wade Thompson Drill Hall will be transformed by Hickey Shields Design into a fantastical carnival landscape anchored by a soaring fifty-foot Ferris Wheel, classic midway rides and games, and performances by members of the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus. Following in the tradition of the Armory's original 1879 Fair that raised funds for famed artists to decorate the interiors of its regimental rooms, the Carnival kicks-off the Armory's first full season of artistic programming and the proceeds will support the mission to revitalize one of America's historic treasures as a dynamic alternative arts space.
