British fashion lovers rejoice! We watched eagerly as UK-based Agent Provocateur flung open it's doors in 2008, followed by the long-awaited Zara from Spain last year. And this summer, Chicagoans in the know did the happy dance in their 4-inch strappy sandals when London-based designer Karen Millen opened her self-titled shop in Chicago--the first in the Midwest.

But the good stuff - the REALLY good stuff - was released in the Fall/Winter collection, which was showcased at the September 23rd launch at 900 N. Michigan Ave.

"Coats are a real signature for us," said Karen Millen Creative Director Gemma Metheringham at the launch. "And I don't want to be mean or anything, but I have heard that Chicago weather could help our coat sales!"

The unexpected 90-degree weather didn't phase Chicago gals from stocking up on winter coats and sweaters while sipping champagne and nibbling mini-cupcakes. Neutrals and reds prevailed, sporting shiny metallic buttons and oversized collars. DJ Shannon Sangster kept the crowd upbeat and on their feet while eager Chicago fashionistas enjoyed a first look at the hottest fashions for the coldest seasons.

"This season's neutrals are incredibly important," Metheringham said. The must-have KM signature piece of the season is the camel cape - which will be arriving on Michigan Avenue soon, she promised. The jury is still out about whether these stylish coats can handle not-so-stylish Chicago weather, since this is their first winter in the Midwest. But at the very least you have the option to look chic while slipping on ice and stomping through snow.

Check out some photos from the event--and some pieces that were unveiled at Millen's New York event, here.
