LENNONYC: Free Central Park Screening Of Lennon Film

Free Central Park Screening Of LENNONYC Film

Celebrate what would have been John Lennon's 70th birthday on October 9th with a free screening of the new American Masters film "LENNONYC."

"New York became a part of who John and I were," Yoko Ono said in a press release. "We couldn't have existed the same way anywhere else. We had a very special relationship with the city, which is why I continue to make this my home, and I think this film captures what that time was like for us very movingly. While I will not be able to attend the screening on John's birthday, I'm thrilled that there will be a screening in Central Park, a park he loved in the city he loved to call home."

The screening will take place in Central Park at the Rumsey Playfield (East 69th Street and Fifth Avenue entrance). Doors open at 6pm and the screening begins at 7pm. The event is free and it is expected to be well-attended, so showing up early is recommended.

"LENNONYC" is a film focused on John Lennon's life following the breakup of the Beatles and his move to New York City in 1971. Featuring never-before-heard studio recordings from the Double Fantasy sessions, rare concert footage and home movies, the film presents an outstanding collection of Lennon's work. It premiered at the New York Film Festival over the weekend and will air nationally on PBS on November 22 at 9pm.
