The Flintstones' 50th Anniversary Celebrated With Google Doodle (PICTURE)

On Thursday Google marked the 50th anniversary of Hanna-Barbera's "The Flintstones" with a special Doodle. The whimsical graphic features Fred Flintstone, his family and his friends piled into Fred's "car" and cruising around their neighborhood.

"The Flintstones may have lived in the prehistoric town of Bedrock, but their technology was on par with much of what we use today," Google Doodler Mike Dutton wrote on the Google Blog. "On the 50th anniversary of its first airing, we gladly salute 'The Flintstones' for inspiring our imaginations and encouraging us to think outside of the box, even if it means taking a look back now and then. I hope you'll join the rest of us here at Google in a little nostalgia to mark this fun occasion!"

"The Flintstones" was set in a re-imagined 10,000 B.C. The series originally aired on ABC on September 30, 1960 and ran until 1966, making it "the first, and the longest running, animated situation comedy shown in prime-time television," writes PCMag.

OK, let's see. "The Flintstones" takes place in 10,000 BC give or take, and humans exist contemporaneously with dinosaurs. The Talibangelicals believe that the Earth is only 6,000 years old, and that humans and dinosaurs coexisted.

Is it reasonable to assume that dinosaurs had already died out by the time that the Bible really mentions humans? Or did Adam and Eve supposedly exist before Fred and Wilma? If the religious nuts believe that, then...well, seriously, who's the wise guy?
