The High And Lows Of Rahm Emanuel's Chief Of Staff Tenure

When Barack Obama made the transition from one-term Illinois Senator to 44th President of the United States, he employed the help of some vital Washington power-brokers to help him navigate the duties of the White House.

Rahm Emanuel, tapped as Chief of Staff, was perhaps the most important. Known "as a profanity-spewing operative with a keen understanding of how to employ power on behalf of a new president with relatively little experience in Washington," Emanuel used his rough-and-tumble efficiency to help coordinate and implement the President's agenda.

This Friday, Emanuel's tenure as Chief of Staff will end, as he departs the White House to mount a campaign for Mayor of Chicago. Pete Rouse will take his place.
