Former Gourmet magazine editor Ruth Reichl is joining the Random House Publishing Group, where she will both edit and write books, including a memoir of her years at the now shuttered magazine.

Reichl, who will serve as an editor-at-large for the company's Random House imprint, also will write a cookbook to be titled, "The Tao of Ruth." Random House also plans to publish Reichl's first novel, "DELICIOUS!"

Citing a tough economy, Gourmet publisher Conde Nast shut down the magazine a year ago. At Random House, Reichl will focus on books related to food.

In a written release, she says she is excited to connect with food lovers in a new way and to explore opportunities on the digital side of the book publishing world.

I dislike this woman out of all proportion to reality. I hate the mess she made of Gourmet, and I hate the Gourmet cookbook with its bright white pages and light yellow type—I had never until then opened a book and felt I'd been flipped the bird—and I hated her phony memoir which I threw in the trash after ten pages, and I hate the way she leans over steaming pots with all that hair running all over the place.

LOL! I liked her fine at the times, but back then she had to keep her identity a secret.
The more visible she becomes, the more more irritating. The more she says, the more pretentious she sounds. I mean "The Tao Of Ruth???" Come on.

Fanned for truthieness.

I think she is a "love her or hate her" kind of character. I find her PBS show highly pretentious. She also irritates me.

Love Ruth's "Tender To The Bone." Great title for her cookbook, "The Tao of Ruth." I'll definitely be looking for it!
