Chesley Sullenberger Gets A Movie Deal (VIDEO)

First Posted: 10/02/10 09:43 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 06:55 PM ET

It was only a matter of time: Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger is getting a movie made about the "Miracle on the Hudson."

The famed U.S. Airways pilot who bravely (not to mention aptly) landed a Charlotte-bound flight into the Hudson River after a bird strike, has already written a book about the experience called "Highest Duty".

No word yet on who would play him, but people are suggesting fellow pilot Harrison Ford, among others.

Who would you want to play Sullenberger? Leave it in comments.

Having flown with Sully on a number of occasions in our former career and knowing his serious demeanor.....Harrison Ford is the guy most assuredly. Plus Ford flies and teaching him new jargon won't be a factor.

Harrison's definitely the man for the part.

But didn't the entire incident happen in eight minutes?

After you put in Sully's flying history before the event - the backstory on all the passengers - the event - the rescues - and afterstory - they can stretch it out to a movie length

When that crash story first came out, I said they would get Harrison Ford to play Sully. That's predictable casting.

Robert Duvall, or James Caan, but also Wesley Snipes; There is no reason why a Black man can't play a White man. After all, the story is not about a White man. It's about a pilot who used his head and practiced what he taught.

It's about a real guy who was white.

He's not purely White, except for his aged hair which turned white later in life. If he were pure White, his skin would have been pure White as those in N. Europe have. Since he is not pure white, he is only partially white. If he is partially White, meaning part Black, then a Black man could conceivably play him.

Well deserved. Guy is a stud.

Harrison Ford would be okay, but so would Wm. H. Macy, or Will Patton perhaps (if I were hold the auditions). Give me a call (LOL).

I'd go with William H. Macy personally. I think he could do a better job of representing the actual man.

Russell Brand :)

I'd choose William H. Macy. He bears a resemblance to Sully (more than Harrison Ford), and Macy is great at portraying characters who are as humble as they are awesome.
