Blair Underwood Weight Loss

Blair Underwood visited 'Regis and Kelly' on Monday and remarked that he had been 20 pounds heavier the last time he appeared on the show.

He said he had been spurred to lose weight after seeing himself on the pilot of his new television series, 'The Event.'

"There's five months between the pilot and the second episode," Blair said. "I saw the pilot and was like, 'Oh brother, you better lose some weight!'"

He said he had gone on the master cleanse, adding, "I basically starved myself for two weeks."

The master cleanse involves subsisting on a mixture of lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper. Demi and Ashton tried the extreme diet before Demi moved onto the Clean Program designed by Dr. Alejandro Junger with celeb devotees including Giuliana Rancic and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Reading the comments on the board bother me because MOST of you are judging this man and what he decided to do with HIS body without any evidence behind your conviction. I HAAVE READ the Master Cleanse book and after I READ IT, i decided to try it to clean my body of the toxins I have been ingesting throughout my life. The weight loss in a "side effect" of the detoxification. Sure it was difficult as times,(i wasnt eating) but as in life what you work at you enjoy more. I learned something about myself and helped myself at the same time! STOP PRE- JUDGING, get off the sidelines and try something different, you just might learn something about yourself!!!

If celebrities want to help in the battle against obesity why don't they stay away from these types of fad diets. Fad diets like these do not work in the long-run, they are just a bandage to drop weight quickly and when you take the bandage off you still have the same ole problem.

There's got to be some celebrities out there somewhere who keeps themselves healthy and fit with a balanced diet and a regular exercise program. I want to hear from them!

There are many versions of this concoction which includes water, apple cider vinegar, honey and cayenne pepper. No matter which version you are using the same rule always applies to detoxification: YOU MUST EAT!

The Master Cleanse has been around since the early 1900's. Since then, the research reports that calorie restrictive detoxification programs are harmful for the body.

Detoxification is an energy-dependent process that puts a metabolic burden on the body. Water and juice fasts are not beneficial because they deplete the body of essential nutrients required for healthy detoxification. These fasts can have many adverse effects including decreased energy production, breakdown of lean tissue rather than loss of fat, increased oxidative stress and blood sugar imbalance.

You might as well go on a hunger strike...its the same thing.

What is the point of sharing this information? He starved himself, he lost weight, and now others will seek out this "Master Cleanse". Stupid, and definitely not news.

I would rather over exercise than go on a cleanse or seriously restrict my food. I admire those that can do it, but not for me!

This master cleanse combo is doable, but not necessary to use only those particular ingredients, in my opinion. You can drink almost any combo of nutritious ingredients and lose 20 pounds in 2 weeks.
