Christine O'Donnell Said In 2006 She Had Classified Information About China Plotting To Take Over U.S.

WASHINGTON — Republican Senate nominee Christine O'Donnell of Delaware said in a 2006 debate that China was plotting to take over America and claimed to have classified information about the country that she couldn't divulge.

O'Donnell's comments came as she and two other Republican candidates debated U.S. policy on China during Delaware's 2006 Senate primary, which O'Donnell ultimately lost.

She said China had a "carefully thought out and strategic plan to take over America" and accused one opponent of appeasement for suggesting that the two countries were economically dependent and should find a way to be allies.

"That doesn't work," she said. "There's much I want to say. I wish I wasn't privy to some of the classified information that I am privy to."

"A country that forces women to have abortions and mandates that you can only have one child and will not allow you the freedom to read the Bible, you think they can be our friend?" she asked. "We have to look at our history and realize that if they pretend to be our friend it's because they've got something up their sleeve."

O'Donnell's campaign didn't respond Monday to requests for comment.

At the debate, opponent Jan Ting countered that China has the potential to become a more democratic country and an important ally.

"I think our China policy has to be handled very carefully," Ting said. "We have the capability of making an enemy or a friend out of China."

When Ting challenged O'Donnell's claim about having secret information, O'Donnell didn't answer specifically but suggested she had received it through nonprofit groups she worked with that frequently sent missionaries there.

Ting later won the nomination but lost the general election to Democratic Sen. Tom Carper.

O'Donnell was a little-known candidate until she stunned Rep. Mike Castle to win the Republican nomination last month in her third bid for the Senate. The tea party-backed hopeful faces Democrat Chris Coons in the November general election.

I'm wondering just how the Republican establishment in DC was planning on handling the sudden instant Michelle Bachmannization of the US Senate.
Michael Steele can't handle a ham sandwich and a plastic knife with ballpark mustard without blood loss.
The worst of the worst in the current Senate GOP at least play acts their way through their days with "my friend from..." or "my colleague from the other  Read More...

If we're giving classified information to people like her, it doesn't really matter what problem or threat we're facing--we've already lost, no matter what it is.

Is there anyone here on this post believe Christine O'Donnel is capable of being a United States senator an doing Delaware a good service? I find this young lady to be very attractive, very LOW informative, Low intelligence, have a defect in how to mangage her own finances let alone give her Delawares finances to manage. I never found out rather she does/not believe in evolution however she must have been asked three times to ans. the qestion! she wasn't sure if she was talking about Iraq or Afganastan or how long she feels we should continue this 10 yr war, but don't think we should time line it say after 12 yrs of war. Some one has told her to keep going after her oponent, not ans. direct questions. This woman is nice on the eyes to look at, but that is about all she has as far as I can tell.

You should probably stick to subjects you know something about. Alien abductions is obviously not one of those subjects.

That was taken out of context, what she was inferring is "a clean environment is good for everyone and peace is always the better option " I dont know how her words were convoluted to say stuff about China or anything else.

Did poor Christine see part of a late night movie about the Korea war while she was under the influence? Or was it just a re-run of Pres. Nixon's historic trip? Or was this an attempt to gain credit for not having the faintest idea of which way is up!

I hope she will seek the treatment she needs although it seems a bit of a stretch for her to gain a seat in Congress to make use of the medical package the Senators and Representatives routinely deny to the rest of us! Does this mean she will help us receive the same healthcare benefits that the Congress has awarded itself?

If Barack Obama has to constantly prove he's not a muslim, and is an American citizen, shouldn't
Christine O'Donnell have to prove she's not a witch? Maybe we should get the dunk tank out and see if she floats.
