To turn the tides for Ohio families in need, the Grow Food, Grow Hope project grants participants the opportunity to grow their own produce, NBC Nightly News reports.
Founded by Americorps volunteers, the project has 40 land plots on Wilmington College's campus to give hungry families a unique way to put fresh food on the table.
For a single mother struggling with unemployment, the land plot is a lifeline.
