Panasonic Jungle VIDEO: New Portable Gaming System Teased

Panasonic Teases New Gaming System 'The Jungle' (VIDEO)

Panasonic has taken the wraps off of a new handheld gaming console, tentatively called The Jungle, that is designed to let gamers play multiplayer online games on-the-go.

Engadget says of the "clunky" device's features:

The clamshell device will allegedly sport a super high-resolution display, features a full QWERTY keyboard along with what looks like a touch sensitive d-pad and button arrangement, and may run atop a custom Linux build. The Jungle will also apparently sport a mini HDMI port, a micro USB port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

According to Gizmodo, the device is the "first portable gaming console designed exclusively for online gaming and MMORPGs."

Reaction to the device has so far been mixed.

CrunchGear observes, "Unless our sense-of-scale is totally off, this thing is going to be pretty big. Physically, that is." Engadget says it is "pretty unimpressed thus far." Wired remarks that although the Panasonic Jungle is "bulky," it "certainly looks rather capable."
