Valentino Really Liked The Valentino Spring/Summer 2011 Show (PHOTOS, POLL)

The Huffington Post     First Posted: 10/05/10 03:50 PM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 06:55 PM ET

Valentino Garavani sat front and center as Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli showed their collection for the house he founded and from which he retired in 2007. The designers created clothes fit for a modern fairytale princess, combining traditional ruffles, detailing and fabrics with more contemporary silhouettes.

After the show, Valentino voiced unreserved approval for the line. He told Daily Front Row: "I am very happy with it. Through and through, it was true to the DNA of the house. They did an exercise on the foundation I developed for 45 years."

Take a look and tell us what you think.

Absolutely beautiful clothing. But dear God man, enough with the spray tan! He and Trump must use the same guy

Is Valentino Garavani related to Donald Trump, they are the same shade of orange?

The poor man. He's talented and I'm sure he's lovely, but good gawd. These people are so youth/beauty obsessed, they turn their faces into these stretch caricatures. He looks like an apple doll.

It is a tawdry facsimile of the Master's work.

Look # 5 looks like an escapee pilgrim from a modernest twist on the Scarlet Letter.

Poor Valentino essentially had his company taken away from him after he went public, and a majority share was bought by a private equity firm. The film 'Valentino: The Last Emperor' is very moving, and well worth a watch if you enjoy his clothes.

Are you referring to The Last Emperor? I really enjoyed that flick.

Katbird, I can't remember the name of the film, but it included a lot about his life and business partner. I can't remember his name, but what an interesting relationship they have. There was also tons of footage of his design process and the other aspect I really enjoyed was the women doing the sewing of the clothes. Loyal, hardworking women.
