No Amsterdam? How can that be?

The best walking city I have ever seen----at all hours of the day and night-----I can spend days just doing that. And I have. With more coming up.

I had the chance to visit Buenos Aires the last year, and it was amazing. I went in the summer season, when everybody is walking in the streets, taking a sunbathe, drinking Mate (prepared from steeping dried leaves of yerba mate in hot water) and Terere (an infusion of yerba mate with prepared with cold water), riding a bike, running in the Palermo Forests, eating Choripan (grilled chorizo and a crusty bread) and empanadas, I visited the city, when everything is just perfect. I took a Bike City Tour and also a Walking City Tour, and it was awesome, each one of these tours has their own appeal, which shows a different face of the city. I book both with an online agency call bsas4u, and I had a fascinating experience in this magical city, that I will never forget.

San Francisco is certainly a beautiful walk, but not for the less rugged. Stay away from Russian Hill and Nob Hill unless you're trained for it. Those hills are high and steep.

DC a walking city? Only if you are in the heart of town.

How about Petersburg, Bratislava, Odessa, San Francisco, Istanbul, or Tunis?

"The nation's capital is small enough to explore entirely on foot. Abundant green space and culturally interesting neighborhoods add to its walking pleasure."

Just don't walk too far in any one direction if you value your safety.

I would just like it if people would stop popping out of the shrubbery and asking for a handoout. I mean, in our Capitol! EVERY time I go there this happens. some even have platic buckets, they come around when you are stopped at a light. This has to be stopped.

How is San Francisco not on this list? I believe it was in the top 3 in a few magazines over the past years.

i agree: no cars, no motos, no bicycles, just your foot or boats! The city you enjoy to be lost!

New York has too many cars. As a pedestrian it feels like you are constantly battling the car traffic. Too much noise and pollution from the endless gridlock of cars and ugly blacktop streets to be a very pleasant city to walk in. This is a problem in every big US city.

Walkable is rather subjective. Where I live is very walkable, the further out of my neighborhood you go the less walkable it gets.

DC is a great walking city if it's not too hot and it's frequently too hot.
