Chicago Public Schools CEO To Resign This Year

Ron Huberman, the Chicago Public Schools CEO, said Wednesday that he would resign by the end of this school year, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Huberman's plans for departure come on the heels of Mayor Richard Daley's announcement that he will not seek another term.

"If not for the mayor's departure, I would have no plans to leave," Mr. Huberman said in an interview. "But I am deeply committed to seeing through many of the programs and initiatives that we started."

The next mayor of Chicago will choose Huberman's successor.
