Rap Meets Opera At New Millennium Orchestra Performance This Weekend

This Weekend: Rap Meets Opera At Harris Theater

Francesco Milioto, co-founder and conductor of the New Millennium Orchestra, isn't your typical opera buff. He's also a self-described "big fan of hip-hop."

Milioto is fusing those two interests this weekend with "Hip Hopera," a Saturday afternoon performance at the Harris Theater.

He's tried the musical fusion before with the Orchestra; this time, he's hoping to showcase the versatile performers in the group and bring in some names from the hip-hop universe as well, like DJ Max Glascott and rapper Diverse.

The performance of Hip Hopera is geared towards the younger generation and allows Milioto to show opera in a classic and modern way. The show consists of four singers, a band, and Milioto narrating and conducting. It's meant to introduce both hip-hop and opera to a wider audience.
