Couple of interesting points:
* Of Forbes' top 10 'Most Powerful Women', four are in the entertainment industry - Oprah, Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Ellen DeGeneres.
* Last November, the same magazine published its 'Most Powerful People' list (both sexes), with 67 people on the list (one for every 100 million people on the planet). The top 14 were all men - presidents, prime ministers, princes, CEOs and the Pope. No entertainers.
* The most powerful woman on the November list was Angela Merkel at no. 15, and Oprah was the most powerful entertainer, ranked 45th overall.
* Not one other entertainer made it into the list.
* The top 67 most powerful people in the world only included three women in total: Merkel, Hilary Clinton and Oprah.

Well stated,Manhattan.

This Forbes list is indeed curious.

you got that right...lady gaga, beyonce, chelsea handler? the list didnt seem to be in any particular order. these three (and mo) being considered more influential than supreme court justices, heads of companies, and heads of states? something is not right. There were very few activists or social thinkers. I dont think MO is the most powerful. she plays low-key and does nice, pallatable things. all she did right was marry well.

Forbes is just trying to kiss up after calling Obama hateful names in their last publication

Liberal fantasies. Michelle Obama spends her time planting "look at me" gardens. She is hardly powerful by anyone's standards.

Whatever. LMAO. ROTFLMAO.

She needs to spend more time in the gym. She is getting fat patting herself on the back.

Angela Merkel is behind the executive at Kraft.

This list is ridiculous.

I am a great admirer of the First Lady, but what a ridiculous list.  Is this Forbes' version of "10 Super Sexy Secrets to Please Your Man"?  How freaking subjective can you get when you have a list that includes Lady Gaga slightly below Oprah Winfrey and the freaking Chancellor of Germany, but slightly ahead of Ellen Degeneres?

Hey Forbes, how about you create a top 100 list of the most bitchin' cars?

The editors at Forbes Magazine need to put the crack pipe down! This list is just ridicules. What is the real agenda here? Although I believe Michelle Obama undoubtedly deserves to be on the list, I'm not convinced she should be #1, however, I suppose when your man is the most powerful man in the world, and you share such intriguing pillow talk, you should be in the top 3.

Lady Gaga, puhleeeze! I don't give a hoot how many Twitter and Facebook followers this Madonna wannabee has, she influences nothing in the lives of most of the people I know. Now for girls 13 to 24, I concede.

My top 5:
Oprah
Hillary
Nancy
Ruth
Michelle

Angela Merkel has more power in one hand than all of them combined.

Worldwide perhaps, but not in the USA. You would be hard pressed to find people who even know who she is. As a world leader, she deserves kudos, I agree, however, the list was MY top 5.

I guess we all have our top 10 list but Lady Gaga or any entertainer for that matter but that's what the world sees to be coming to. What does she do anyway besides looking rediculous all the time.

I'd definitely have to put Nancy as #1 as she's two breaths away from the Presidency and then Hillary but the head of Kraft Foods? Stupid list.....

I kinda consider A H to be part of the media elite.

Wealthy and politically connected and appearing on MSM daily.

I have trouble taking that list seriously when Lady Gaga is #7...

I know, right.  I mean, who had the gall to put Beyonce at #9.  No disrespect to Lady Gaga, and I'ma let you finish, but BEYONCE HAD THE GREATEST VIDEO OF ALL TIME!

Its funny to see Germany's Angela Merkel at #4. The European Union and the Euro currency is on the ropes. You have bankrupt Euro members that will need massive bailouts (Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Ireleand). The bailout will need to come from Germany.

If Merkel says no, the European Union could cease or at the very least get smaller. If she says yes, she is giving Germany's hard saved money away and her Christian Democrats will go bye bye. If she does a half way easure, that could still mean a Euro crash in a couple years.

Thus, the entire future of Europe will be altered depending on what Merkel decides. That is huge.

Yet, us silly Americans think that a woman in charge of a company that makes process cheese, a first lady (no offense Michelle, I do like you but Merkel is more important) and a media owner (Oprah) is more powerful and important than the woman who will decide Europe's future???????

Then we wonder why the world thinks we are not too bright.

This list appears to be Forbes' version of "10 Tips for Great Abs".  This is a fluff piece, pure and simple.  If we were to take this seriously, then Beyonce would have been number 1.  She had the greatest video of all time.  OF ALL TIME!
