16-Year-Old Prodigy Turned Down Ivies For Florida A&M

This year's crop of Florida A&M University freshman includes 16-year-old prodigy Ralph Jones Jr., who turned down a number of prestigious institutions, including Harvard and Stanford, to become a FAMU Rattler, WCTV reports.

Jones told WCTV that he was moved by a speech from FAMU President James H. Ammons and was encouraged to attend the school by his SAT math prep teacher. A $120,000 scholarship from the school didn't hurt, either.

According to FAMU, Jones, who scored 2,120 out of 2,400 on the SAT, turned down Harvard, Stanford, Morehouse and Howard for FAMU.
