Rand Paul Lobs Lewinsky Attack At Bill Clinton

Rand Paul Bill Clinton Lewinsky Attack

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 10/11/10 06:32 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:00 PM ET

Rand Paul took a harsh line against Bill Clinton on Monday, attacking him with a below-the-belt jab focused on the former president's sexual indiscretions with White House intern Monica Lewinsky.

"I'm not sure I would trust a guy who had had sexual relations with an intern," Paul said, responding to Clinton's campaign efforts for his Democratic rival Jack Conway earlier in the day, the Lexington Herald-Leader reports. "I mean, do you think he's an honorable person?"

Paul continued:

"They complain they want all these workplace rules. Do you think there ought to be a law against having, using the prerogatives of your position and your power of your job, to have relations with an intern? I think that's disgusting. It gets to the point where we discount what he says. He showed himself less than honorable in office."

Earlier in the day, Clinton, speaking at the University of Kentucky, praised Conway and bashed Paul as part of a GOP that was intent on "playing" voters.

"We have a practical progressive common-sense moderate who has actually done things and actually has a plan, running against a man with radical ideas and no record to back it up," Clinton said of the choices for Kentucky Senate.

"[Republicans] left the incoming administration with a $1.2 trillion annual deficit and they're talking about balancing the budget?" said Clinton, according to WAVE. "Give me a break here. There is only one person you can listen to on that and that based on the evidence is me."

The Clintons have been a historically powerful political force in Kentucky. As MSNBC reports, Clinton took the state by wide margins in his successful presidential campaigns in 1992 and 1996, and Hillary Clinton easily defeated then-candidate Barack Obama in the state's presidential Democratic primary in 2008.

WHAT an axhole.

Seriously we are really hitting rock bottom with these tea baggers. I've never seen anything like it. We are rapidly degenerating into a third world with the worst of the third world being how politicians act towards each other. What next?

As a fake anti-choice Libertarian, Rand Paul ia an embarrassment to himself; if he were to be elected, I'm certain there are a bunch of ways that he will become an embarrassment to the State of Kentucky. However, if the good citizens of Kentucky don't see Mitch McConnell as an embarrassment, maybe they won't notice. We'll see...

I've always held Mr. Paul in high regards. Maybe the campaign s getting to him.

Gosh I know, right. I don't know if I could trust a president who did this - but I would definitely trust the president who lied about why we had to go to war. It's way worse to have sex than lie to the world and cheat the taxpayers out of their money. When it comes to the commandments, the most important is definitely the one about adultery for sure.

A "below the belt" attack on Clinton? I suppose Mr. Wing considers Clinton's and Lewinski's actions to be good examples for our children and husbands. Go ahead, adultery is OK to do (never mind the affect on the family) and superiors having sex with their subordinates is also OK (nevermind that Democrats were the ones pushing the sexual harassment laws - it doesn't apply to them, it'd be below the belt). That or Mr. Wing means it has to do with things literally below the belt.

Both Ron Paul and his son are drenched in some real, honest integrity, so this comment is
not unexpected nor surprising. The Pauls set high standards for themselves, and live by them; and having read various bios/info on the Clintons from away back, there is a big contrast between the two.

I guess that makes you a big, tough guy, Randyman. Congratulations.

Clinton has the Republican congress to thank for his balanced budget. And Paul is right - who could trust this guy? He IS full of lies and deciet, but I guess that depends on the definition of "is". Here's a lovely link to Clinton and his sociopathic rants I'm sure every progressive will love. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/clinton-heckled-in-blue-new-york-says-half-of-republicans-need-psychiatric-help/

Learn that from the Fair and Balanced network? Where every Republican, no matter how short on gray matter and ideas is a hero, and those who don't worship on the altar of Big Biz are the goats? Boy, you sure convinced a lot of people with your comment here. Congrats for moving the dialog forward in an intelligent and thoughtful way.

I am not sure that you know this, but ad hominem attacks are not a method of "moving the dialog forward in an intelligent and thoughtful way." Why don't you offer something of substance instead, and lead by example.

Bill earned it people. He remains a disgrace to the office for using his power and influence to manipulate an intern. Funny how so many want to give Bill a pass for that terrible episode.
11:31 AM on 10/13/2010
It's not about giving him a pass, but giving him credit for accomplishments. Much like we do all Presidents.
12:32 PM on 10/13/2010
Any fond words about Bush's accomplishments you'd like to share?

Whereas Bush used his power and influence to try to manipulate the world into an unnecessary war. BUT THAT WAS OK BECAUSE HE IS A REPUBLICAN! And don't forget Reagan, Bush and Bush's immense humanitarian efforts post-presidency.

Besides his Republican shenanigans of allowing NAFTA to be approved, I'd take Bill Clinton's economy any day over anything ANY Republican has done for the last 50 years.

With the exception of two years, the first two, Bill Clinton's administration had a Republican Senate and a Republican House guided by Newt Gringrich. That is where the economy came from not old Bill.

Ha ha what a ridiculous thing to say! NOT A SINGLE REPUBLICAN VOTED FOR THE BUDGET THAT SET THE US FISCAL HOUSE IN ORDER! Now they are predictably trying to take the credit! That is unmitigated BS. Shame on you.

Not only did the GOP fight Clinton, they even threw down their toys and sulked, shutting down the government. Clinton was the reason our economy boomed, it was even his motto.

Revisionist GOP BS at its nuttiest!

Wrong.
You're so out of your tree.

Gingrich fought Clinton tooth and nail every step of the way. It was disgusting. Gingrich is totally worthless, and had it not been for him fighting Clinton, we'd have been in even better shape.
I remember so well. When Cinton brought in a few non-consequential taxes and refused Newt's demand to cut more, Republicans predicted a total failure of Government. HA! we had prosperity that busted out when he convinced Greenspan to lower interest Rates, in 93, then more when he began to get the deficit under control in 1997. Republicans had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO GAIN CREDIT IN ANY OF IT. I remember so well the rude arrogant a-holes screaming and refusing to stand at the State Of The Union speeches. Furious that Clinton showed 'em up....
They NEVER got over it, to this day.
You're living proof. Tryin' to take credit for them where they deserve NONE, even now.

Cracks me up. You're still mad, even now. Of course, with a loser president like Bush to look back on, you're position is obviously even more pathetic.

There are terms to describe despicable people like Paul, but I can assure you they would never get posted.

If Ky. allows this guy in office the entire state will be given two black eyes.

No that was the job of the right wing hit squad who sifted through Clinton's garbage from day one of his presidency to discredit him instead of work with him.

Imagine how much more work would have been done and money not wasted had the GOP not dogged Clinton and impeached him when they knew they didn't have the votes to close the deal.

It does seems as if America is losing it's collective mind. The glue that holds this all together....? The "R" word. These people have indeed lost their minds, and are freaking out big time simply because, they just cannot bear the idea of an Afican American in The White House. They have flipped totally. Poor souls. let us just hope that teir collective insanity doesn't pervail next month.

I'll give you a 'pass' due to your lack of caffeine, but your basic premise is right on. Even Monica Lewinsky has apologized for her part in that unfortunate incident, for which Bill Clinton long ago accepted responsibility. He was impeached but exonerated as the charges did not reach the level of an impeachable offense. He's now become an elder statesman who is doing outstanding work around the world. I share your thinking that having a black President is anathema to many who are opposing Democrats in the midterm election. Other reasons may be used, but that fact underlies most of the opposition to everything that President Obama has done in his half-term in office. And yet his accomplishments, in spite of this resistance, are commendable. Yes, it would seem as though many of the people who oppose him, especially those who are running for office, are mentally ill: Rand Paul, Sharon Angle, Christine O'Donnell, Joe Miller, Virginia Foxx, Michelle Bachman, Carl Paladino, - these are the ones who come to mind, altho I'm sure I'll think of others as soon as I post this. Looney tunes, every one!!!!!!

Rand Paul has now added hypocrite to his illustrious list of pre-election accomplishments. Libertarian Paul has suggested that we cannot legislate morality in his attack of the Civil Rights Act. And now this same guy demonstrates that he is no more a Libertarian than he is a viable candidate.
