Amanda Hess TBD Correction: The Best Ever?

Best Correction EVER?

TBD.com writer Amanda Hess made a most unfortunate typo in a story published last week--one that resulted in an all-time classic of a correction.

The story concerned a new campaign in Washington, D.C. to increase access to medical services for black men with H.I.V. Much to Hess's chagrin, however, she left a letter off in just about the worst possible place. That led to this correction, which was placed at the top of the post:

Correction:

This blog post originally stated that one in three black men who have sex with me is HIV positive. In fact, the statistic applies to black men who have sex with men. Also, the photo caption incorrectly attributed Bayard Rustin's photo to "Wikipedia Commons." The correct title is "Wikimedia Commons."

The correction was widely blogged and tweeted about on Tuesday, with many calling it one of the best ever.
