Italy vs. Serbia Euro Qualifier Suspended Due To Riots Over Gay Pride Parade (VIDEO)

Report: Violent Fans RIOT At Italy-Serbia Soccer Match

The Euro 2012 qualifying match between Italy and Serbia in Genoa on Tuesday was reportedly suspended due to riots and fan violence after only six minutes of play.

Serbian soccer supporters, some dressed in ski-masks, rioted by setting off fireworks, throwing flares onto the field and cutting up goal nets.

The match had already been delayed for about 45 minutes due to fan violence both inside and outside the stadium.

"It was impossible to play in that goal," said Italy goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano. "I would have had to stand with my back to the game so I could avoid the flares. I wouldn't have wanted to take one to the head."

After one flare allegedly landed near Viviano, Scottish referee Craig Thomson called the match.

Serbian supporters were reportedly angry about their government protecting a gay pride parade over the weekend in Belgrade.
