According to a report on NPR's All things Considered, the retail giant, in conjunction with the William J. Clinton Foundation paid artists up-front for 20,000 products to be sold in their homewares department in over 25 stores nationwide.

NPR speaks to papier-mache artist, Pascale Faublas, about hopes for the program:

"We are working on rebuilding ourselves first. This action for example here today with Macy's is one step in that sense -- to get the artisans back to work."
