After seeing a sickly, neglected horse up for auction, Missouri resident Elizabeth Parker found herself continuing to wonder about the fate of the animal.
When she followed up with the auctioneer, she discovered the horse was slated to be put down. Parker stepped in, buying the horse and nursing it back to health.
Parker told KSDK News,
"I knew she had to have an amazing heart to be that kind after everything she had been through. We just thought we were taking on a project of saving a horse's life. It turns out she was a somebody."
It was later discovered the horse is a descendant of Secretariat, the famous race horse on which the recent film by the same title was based.
