Angry Birds Android App Released: How To Download It For Free

Angry Birds Android

The addictive game Angry Birds is now available for Android devices.

Angry Birds, which Venture Beat notes "broke all of the records on the Apple App Store in the past 10 months, selling more than 7 million copies," is being offerred for free on GetJar.

The Android version of Angry Birds seems like it's already a hit: Rovio, the developer of Angry Birds, saw its website go down "due to the enormous traffic generated by the Android launch of Angry Birds."

Joystiq points out that GetJar has also been overwhelmed by demand for the Angry Birds app--an error message on the website told users, "Dear visitors, GetJar website is experiencing temporary technical problems due to a totally undexpected high demand for the new free game Angry Birds." If you're having trouble getting the game, GetJar recommends users try downloading it from its mobile site.

This is so much like boom blox so why play this on my phone when I can play boom blox on my Wii for free??

maybe because it was downloaded over a million times in the first 24 hrs and crashed the getjar servers due to demand.

SPOILER ALERT:

My sister just bought an 'Droid' phone, and I have been playing with it for about 12 hours now right out of the box.

Not speaking as an Apple 'FanBoy'.

... however, I find the 'Droid' OS to be 'clumsy' and less than 'easy to use'.

If you are looking for an entertainment device... 'droid' devices will leave you 'disappointed'.

... good luck 'droid'.

You have 'many' years of catch-up ahead of you in performance, ease of use and volume of available content.

There are some things that are pretty clunky about iOS as well. For instance, I always hated how you cannot search right from the address bar, you always have to back out and search from the bar to the right of it.

Why not just make them one bar like every other browser does?

The only difference here, is that when a part of Android appears "clunky" you can always get something to replace that part to your particular tastes. Which is the point behind an open, modular and flexible OS.

What you are describing here is the exact same way in which Internet Explorer, FireFox, Safari, Chrom and all the other browsers in between still behave. The browser in droid devices still works the same way.

However, my comment was not about the browser rather than the droid OS in general.

I just down loaded it to my Droid X. Love this game!

It's Plants vs Zombies but regardless. ;) Great games, both of them! Also a huge fan of peggle, I just wish they'd release an iPad HD version. Still a lot of fun though!

total BS

They charge apple users for the game, but give it free to android users

i can only suggest, in the strongest of terms, that ALL apple users boycott this company

they want to treat us poorly, they dont deserve our business

why stay with iphone, get a droid
11:28 AM on 10/17/2010
Why? iPhone users clearly get the best apps first. Who wants to wait a year.

Serves you right for getting an iPhone, next time get an Android.

It is free on the android market no need to install it from anywhere else. Rovio went with the ad supported model though they should put up a donation version. Downloading it now.

The only game I have on my iPhone. It helps ease the flow when I am on the throne.

I am personally quite curious to see what kind of phone justifies that kind of retrieval method... I'm really not sure I would even do that for my new phone...

I've been waiting for Verizon's 4G before I buy my Droid, but I check it all the time. I have to admit that giving up my iPhone when I moved out of AT&T area was a real wrench, but the Droid is looking pretty good. Angry Birds not available on the Droid would have stunk. I'm that addicted to it on my iTouch. Now, where's Doodlejump?

Did you mean: offered?

I loved playing this game on my Ipod touch and it really is addicting. The sound effects, the facial expressions and the slapstick quality of the game made me laugh out loud. I just wish I didn't get stuck because I would really like to finish up the game.

I watch all the how-to videos on YouTube and now have 3 stars on almost everything. Isn't it the absolute dumbest fun game you ever played?

It really is, I really looked forward to a free moment where I could jump on the game for a while.

I'm embarrassed, but I did look on youtube a months ago and I still couldn't get past that level. Bummer!
