70-Year-Old To Bike 1000-Mile 'Ride For Reading'

Dianne Tripitelli Davis, 70, is determined to make it from her home state of Alabama all the way down to Mexico on bike. Davis isn't a cycling enthusiast -- a year ago, she didn't even own a bike.

Instead, WBRC reports, Davis is propelled by her love of literacy and her more than two decades of nonprofit work in a small community south of the border. She has already worked to build homes, a clinic a library and a preschool in a small Mexican community.

She has named this 1,132-mile ride her "Tour de Lectura" or "Ride for Reading" and hopes it will help her raise enough money to open a grammar school.
