Of course, a sunrise is beautiful everywhere. But here at the Huffington Post we did some research and came up with a list of 21 places around the world where, travelers say, the sunrise is simply unique.

For my money, the best and most welcoming sunrises have been on long distance blue- water sailing voyages; after a cold, wet, dark and stormy night watch.

I should imagine those Chilean miners first sunrise, post captivity, wasn't half bad.

They missed the eastern-most point in the USA.....Eastport, Maine. Beautiful, right on the ocean across the straight from Campobello Island, Canada. Right here in the most beautiful state....Maine.

Without looking at the pictures I would imagine anywhere you can see the sun rise would be perfect.

I have been looking for work now two years and recently lost my Condo in Chicago; since, I have been renting a room in Mesa, Arizona and I have to say that starting my day off watching the Sun rise over Superstition Mountain is breathtaking and fills me with HOPE!!!

I have watched sunrises in Mount Sinai, Egypt and Merzouga, Morocco. Suck on that, people. :)))

I'm sure they are lovely - but why should we 'suck on that." Besides, I don't do small favours.

Add Monument Valley. Before they put in the luxury hotel, the campground had a great view. Dozens of people were silent sitting on the hill. Canyondlands I have experienced. Most go to Mesa Arch to see it come though the arch and rising over Washerwoman Arch. At White Sands the sands turn orange and purple.

Hey, WTF? I added my contribution and it just vanished. Just a memory of a gorgeous sunrise, and somebody didn't like it? What?

Well, I'll try again: being on the ice north of Barrow, AK, watching the sun rise over the lead and the pack ice when the sun only dips below the horizon for a short period of time before rising again. (This is in early May, before the sun's out 24 hrs/day) Amazing, amazing colors that contrast with the blue and white of the ice.

So what's wrong with this?

I'm amazed to not see Halong Bay in Vietnam on this. We stayed on a Chinese junk boat and the crew came around and woke us early to come to the top, enjoy some delicious Vietnamese coffee, and watch the most beautiful sight I've ever seen as the sun rose over the rocky karsts. Simply amazing!

I once watched the sunrise over the jungle from the top of a pyramid in Tikal, Guatemala. Beautiful.

If you like watching the sun rise and set over the sea Florida is the best in the US. You can watch the sunrise over the Atlantic then take a leisurely drive across the state and watch it set over the Gulf of Mexico.

I had the pleasure of watching the sun rise over Machu Picchu recently--simply breathtaking. My avatar is actually a picture of Machu Picchu that I took. I can't wait to go back.
