The Global Heritage Fund, a Silicon Valley-based non-profit, released its list of 12 "On the Verge" sites that are in danger of disappearing without further aid from organizations.
The list is comprised of places with a per capita income of less than $5 a day, according to USA Today.
Jeff Morgan, executive director of Global Heritage Fund (GHF), told the Wall Street Journal: "Especially in places in Asia, we've seen rapid growth destroying these sites and government regulation hasn't kept up to protect them."
