'Paranormal Activity 2' Gets The Ridiculous Trailer It Deserves (VIDEO)

First Posted: 10/22/10 02:53 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:05 PM ET

If you're planning on going to see "Paranormal Activity 2," the following parody trailer from Upright Citizens Brigade sketch group The Midnight Show may convince you to do otherwise. The alternate title for the movie alone ("Fakeboring Nightvisioncrap 2") does a good job explaining how silly the franchise is, but you'll have to see the video to really get why it's terrible.

The first Paranormal Activity fell into the same trap that Blair Witch Project did for me. I had it built up for me and hyped through the roof. I was told it would be the scariest thing I'd ever seen. I was promised I wouldn't sleep for weeks. So I foolishly went into the movie with all those expectations rolling around in my mind and I was completely disappointed. (my step-daughters, however, were completely terrified) I'll probably rent PA2, but this time I'm desperately trying not to get my hopes up.
Movie killing hype aside, the trailer was worth a chuckle. Slow burn horror isn't for everybody. I can only imagine how enthusiastic audiences today would be with the original version of "The Haunting".

The first one wasn't scary and i doubt this one is too,it's just the jump scares that startle me lol.

I scare easily and so I'll be staying far, far, far away from this movie!

Loved both movies. I'm not into the blood splatter and gore stuff, I like more suspenseful, elemental kind of fears. This plays to your most primal fears - the unknown or supernatural, and things that go bump in the night. Sounds mostly. Moods, or feelings that you're not alone in the house, even if you are the only one home...

They are both awesome..... Let the posers act "Too Cool" about it.

I don't believe in ghosts, I'm just scared of them. I think Mark Twain coined that little beauty. I feel quite the same.

That Mark Twain was brilliant! I feel the same way. My daughter always says "if you can believe in god, angels, holy spirits, the deveil, etc., it's not exactly a leap to believe in ghosts."

supposedly 'ghosts' are actually demonic creatures playing to be men, women or even little kids that like to push beach balls around.

I loved both movies, but the second one was much better. There's was a lot much going on. I loved how they tied in the Micha and Katie into the second story.

Wow - the second one was better???? Really? So often the follow-ups are disappointing. I'd better get to it!. The first one scared my pants off, so can't wait to see the second one.

really? It really scared you guys a lot?

Okay, I read that the only thing that scared people was the highly sensitive chick sitting behind you that screamed, and in turn you screamed, right? Or maybe you are that highly sensitive chick that screams when the director makes a scene change? Because you can't be watching this at home and find this scary. Really, nothing really happened. This fake trailer was right on. I was pretty damn bored by the original.

You want to be scared, watch The original Shutter. That is scary in your living room, with the lights on. I could show you a screen shot and you might have nightmares. And if you saw the remake of of Shutter, I'm sorry, the ending is ruined for you, but the original will still scare you. Why'd you watch that remake, anyways? It got poor reviews. Support the originals. They are normally better.

Just saw this movie with my 13 year old nephew. Truly a labor of love to sit through

IF I was 13 or younger when I saw this I'd have nightmares FOR A LONG TIME!
11:29 PM on 10/23/2010
I couldn't have said it better myself! The first one was a snoozefest and I don't particularly care to find out if the sequel will be the same!

Paranormal has the action of The Shinning & they both scare the crap outta me. That being said I saw Paranormal 2 last night & it was pretty good...I laughed at most of the scary parts mainly because I was in a theatre filled with overly squirmy teenagers with painstakingly high pitched voices that screamed at every little thud they heard but good none the less...

The Shining? Seriously? Give Stephen King some credit. Maybe Cujo? A dog attacking a Pinto for 74 minutes would be a fair comparison.

Stephen King? More like Stanley Kubrick. King HATED The Shining movie and finally sometime in the 1990s he fulfilled his vision with some snooze fest miniseries that is best forgotten. Like you well point out, King also wrote Cujo, which I just finished watching on AMC.

BTW I liked the first PA. Have yet to see the second one. The first one definitely earn my money for the second. I'll be seeing it.

Sorry, The Shinning was well written, well acted, and was good. No comparison to this trite drivel.

Kind of like your trite postings which almost always equate to a giant pile of drivel.

I didn't mind Paranormal Activity 1 or 2. I took them for what they were. But that said, this is hilarious. I felt the same way, especially watching the second one. It's a pattern: wait, cheap scare, wait, cheap scare, some exposition, wait, and cheap scare...Only the last 30 minutes of both films were even remotely interesting.

I've never, ever seen one of these type movies. So I have no clue what the trailer is talking about. And I have no clue what the comments are about either.

The first (and one of the last) horror movies I ever went to was back in the 1950s when I was in Junior High School.

It was a Dracula movie. And I think I remember this was the same movie where one of the characters was using a binocular to look at the beautiful mountain/lake view or something.

But as s/he put the binoculars up to her eyes, there were big spikes that came out of the
binoculars. Of course it blinded the person. That was so gory. And gross.

I had nightmares after that. And I have never used binoculars, either.

I think you may be talking about "Horrors of the Black Museum" with Michael Gough. Scared me too.
