Is this what Soros paid for an attack on Guam? Why does the article fail to mention Guam is a very important strategic asset of the United States? I don't see anything wrong with the RNC support republican candidates on the island. We should be making the real issue statehood. Not just for Guam but all US overseas possessions. Give them a choice either vote to become part of the Union or allow them true independence.

What I don't understand is, why would anyone in Guam want to support a Repuglican?

I'm not sure what the big deal is. While not a state, Guam is very much a part of the nation. Its citizens are citizens of the nation and its elected governor is an elected office of the United States.

BTW, it's also not true that delegates cannot vote in Congress. As of 2007, the current rule is:

"In January 2007, it was proposed by Democrats in the House that the 1993–1995 procedure be revived. The House approved the proposal with the adoption of H.Res. 78 by a vote of 226–191."

"Current practice not only grants delegates votes in the standing committees, but also in the powerful conference committees (see House Rule III, 3[b]). Conference committees include representatives from both the House and Senate. These committees work to compromise and reconcile conflicts between House and Senate bills. Conferees often have great influence on the specifics of new federal laws."

For those not familiar with the rules in Congress, the House back in 1993 let delegates vote, provided that their votes did not determine the final outcome of passage. However, the more important thing to note is that delegates do get to sit in committees, negotiate legislative details, and in the case of the conference committees determine the final compromise bill that both houses have to pass verbatim if that bill is to become law. So, while not as powerful as a full member of Congress, a Congressional Delegate can be a pretty significant post.

FTA: 'RNC communications director Doug Heye said the money went to Guam because the island falls in to the party's D2H program, a campaign launched by chairman Michael Steele aimed at winning races in all 50 states, from Delaware to Hawaii.'

Um, did anybody tell mikey or Heye that Guam isn't one of the 50 states?

It has a non-voting delegate to Congress though, but why a $15,000 contribution is controversial is beyond me. It'll buy one good beach party for the local repub organizers most likely. Compared to the money being kicked around stateside, it's not worth mentioning.

Do you not understand that Guam is a US territory? Like Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands? I started school on Guam when I was a kid (it has a Naval Base and my dad was stationed there). Guam has the same two political parties the rest of the US does, and many of the citizens of Guam are US citizens of other states who can vote in presidential elections. The Guamanians themselves have a straw poll but have delegates to both the Dem and GOP conventions.

Are you so incredibly ignorant of geography and your country that you think Guam is a FOREIGN COUNTRY?

Wow you looked at my post and it flew way over your head 15,000 to Guam is a small drop in the bucket of pandering for campaign contributions, the Republicans already have proven they aren't shy about accepting contributions from foreign nations including the Arabian States and all points East including India and China. So before you brand me a lunatic like Sarah Palin and can't tell the difference from PA and WV you should read more into my threads!

While I understand why some republicans may be concerned with the spending, it is certainly not any business of democrats.

Their actions are certainly the business of the Democrats.

Yes we should Americans be concerned about the listing of any political party because the US Chamber of Commerce and the Supreme court has already taken all the surprise out of foreign donations, nothing like a few terrorists or communists to persuade the American people about who should be elected, heck even a planted terrorist could be elected with enough time!

...' the Supreme court has already taken all the surprise out of foreign donations...'
you need to be a tad more careful with your word choice. Some people may interpret your comment to mean that the SC said foreign donations were legal.
I would never want a poster with 1768 fans to be considered a blithering idiot.

Guamanian's are very kind not dumb. They know a crook when they see one. All four services reside there. The Marine Corps is moving there from Japan and US is pouring millions into the build up on the island. They speak english as a second language with ease.

They know about the US better than mainlanders because they help hide US soldiers and their families until help arrived during the Japanese invasion during WWII.

Steele forget about it. They already know you're an idiot and they won't vote for you.

This is interesting in light of the fact that Guam is predominately Republican and there isn't likely to be much of a contest. In the six years I lived there, I never met a Democrat.

Watch your back, Mara Liasson …
(Media Matters) — News that Juan Williams’ contract with NPR was terminated over comments he made about Muslims while appearing on Fox News shines a spotlight on the radio network’s evergreen controversy: Its continued affiliation with Fox News. Specifically, NPR’s Mara Liasson and her long-running association with Fox News has often raised questions. This might be the proper time for NPR to finally address that thorny issue.
