Our government allows corporate and foreign money to contort and corrupt our leadership and decision making. Such a government is destroying itself as exterior authority decides the fate of the Republic.

Monopoly and concentrated economic power is similiar in result to the old Soviet model of State ownership. And the corrupt and ignominous ends are the same of benefiting a handful of opportunists, fanatics and self-serving billionaires.

Don't overlook active duty military brass who want to retire and cash in on their fortune! They are active lobbyists for the MIC. They have no loyalty to the troops or the security of our country.

Doesn't seem like a secret any more. We are not that naive to think that our public representatives in one way or another has been bought or sold by special interest. One hand washes the other while "We the People" get thrown out with the bath water.

Congress will NEVER crack down on this sort of thing, because they have too much invested in keeping it that way.

Unfortunately the country has slipped too far to ever come back to a true republic!

If all you folks think voting republican is a magic bullet for the Countries troubles you are living in a dream world. They will ship more jobs overseas. Get real. Big corps are spending billions on the Chamber that has a specific department for outsourcing jobs. Wake up before it is too late.

Saw a documentary today called "Inside Job"..................I not only recommend it highly..............I urge you to see it.

It really gets down with the facts and the what and who caused the economic meltdown.

the Chamber of Commerce loves Big government spending when it is bailing out Wall Street.

Most of the chamber's political spending is focused on defeating Democratic candidates through ads that either directly or indirectly associate the candidate it opposes with excessive government spending on programs such as the economic stimulus and the TARP bailout of banks.

But when those measures were before Congress, the U.S. Chamber was there telling Congress to show some courage and hurry up and pass them.

In January 2009 as Congress and President Obama were putting together a stimulus package, the U.S. Chamber was all for the effort. "What we're talking about is a defibrillator," Tom Donohue, the chamber president and CEO said. "For us, we're looking at a short-term system where we inject the capital, remove the obstructions, and shock this economy into moving forward."

After the House and Senate conferees announced an agreement on a $814 billion stimulus package in February, 2009, the U.S. Chamber was emphatically on board.

Just to give you an idea or the difference
between an "American" and a "foreign" corporation,
it is enlightening to see how they pay their taxes.
there is a nice article this week from Bloomberg (via Yahoo):

http://finance.yahoo.com/taxes/article/111093/the-tax-haven-thats-saving-google-billions

any wonder

first, that they have jillions of undisclosed dollars to play with??

second, that they are willing to spend jillions of dollars to buy Congress
so that there will be no change in the status quo???

America is bleeding

Yep, America is bleeding and Karl Rove is the biggest blood sucker of them all.

Oh Gosh, businesses are using a business organization to lobby for business. That is just so scandilous. Who could ever have imagined that this could happen in America?
It figures this would be covered on HuffPo. Did the fact that Soros is funding "investigative reporters" for the Huffingon Post get much coverage? Or the fact the Soros is providing "investigative reporters to NPR(in exchange for some measure of control over who they hire and fire, apparently) to oppose Fox News?
Why should it be a surprise to anyone that businesses donate to a business organization to lobby for business? It should be, no more than Soros donating to HuffPo and NPR to spread his liberal message and oppose a conservative message.
08:54 AM on 10/26/2010
If businesses were honorable and just they wouldn't need to lobby.

Here is on for all of you claiming to be good Christians.. I know, you pick and choose what you wish to adhere too. I can only imagine if most self proclaimed Christians were to black out passages they didnt personally like in the scriptures, it would be down to one page of readable material and look like a Bush document released under FOIA.
Dont get me wrong, Im not speaking of the few honest and real religious people out there. I know a few and admire and have a lot of respect for them. Im speaking about the posers, who are many.

And this has what to do with businesses getting a business organization to lobby for business? Every group in America has its lobbyists. Even the non-Christians, who certainly have better lobbyists judging by their success in suppressing any form of Christian expression in the public square.

Disablility claims and veterans payments are handled by the Government. Read the article, businesses are donating to a business organization to lobby for business. This is a non-issue and is only being covered in an effort to smear business and capitalism.
02:03 PM on 10/24/2010
You must be speaking of the government's military disability system that Congress and others contend is woefully unprepared to deal with the hundreds of thousands of troops injured while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan....

Maybe you're referring to Prudential Insurance Company's denial of lump sum payments to veterans...

Or McKesson's contract award by the Department of Veteran Affairs to be the sole pharmaceutical supplier...

Or the Lockheed Martin military contracts...

Or the thousands of other businesses that provide the infrastructure for the government to function.
