So the medical review board consists of Ornish (woo-hoo!), a homeopath, a functional medicine expert, an integrative medicine expert, a er... spirirtualist(?) and some guy who apparently wandered onto the set with a stethoscope. Sounds about right.

But where do the others come from? Could these folks actually have some credibility in the field of medicine? If so, how'd they slip past the bouncers?

Have to wonder why they would want to - it's a bit like going to a Goth party when you know there's a good chance of ending up as the human sacrifice.

All Docs. I guess I shouldn't be suprised, but I am disgusted.

Nurses outnumber Doctors by a huge margin, are the primary caregivers, and spend more time educating and interacting with patients on a daily basis. You do a great disservice to your readers by having an editorial board made up of only doctors. You should include at minimum one bedside nurse. NOT an administrative nurse, but one who daily cares for patients needing care. Shame on you. It's like having only CEO's representing a particular interest and not considering the "little guy" who actually provides the work.

i strongly agree with the comment but perhaps not the tone.

so, let's give this board an opportunity right this imbalance. i'm familiar with some of the members and trust their knowledge and process skills.

and cydRN, i also agree with the need for an active direct patient care experience vs administrative or policy experience - that goes for physicians and nurses.

So glad to have the Health section be highlighted in this way! Very cool to have a variety of healthcare options presented - the surgery/pharmaceutical oriented as well as the holistic/herbal/acupuncture/homeopathic; it's great to learn about what is happening in health care from various modalities and sources.

How can I trust that your editorial board will present me with accurate information about health when there's a homeopath among them? I support the exploration of alternative treatments and the importance of holistic approaches, but homeopathic medicines are nothing more than very expensive little bottles of water. There is no scientific evidence that they have any effect other than a placebo effect. I'll go elsewhere for health advice until Huffpost focuses on reality-based health information.

I am surprised at the number of comments against homeopaths! Homeopathy is real and effective. It is vibrational in nature, and may not be completely understood in its function, but is is used by many, many practitioners and lay people. A homeopath should be on the board. It's an elegant and evolved healing modality.

Glad to see Dr. Hyman here. Dr. Marcelle Pick would be great too, as would Dr. Carolyn Sutherland . . . Functional Medicine is great! Ann Louise Gittleman would be wonderful. Glad to see an article by Deepak. Dr. Jonathan V. Wright is another favorite of mine. This will be a good section! Thanks HP!

May I suggest you add to your review board one or more of the obesity/diabetes doctors/researchers who are on the cutting edge of knowledge in the prevention of Type II? I highly recommend Drs. Phinney, Westman, and Volek. And a truly amazing man who also has the best blog on the web and is working with the Canadian First Nations people, Dr. Jay Wortman. He is excellent at cutting to the chase and explaining the science of obesity/insulin-resistance/diabetes in very "user-friendly" ways.

I absolutely love this! A site that deals in prevention of disease. Exactly what is needed.

Great, except that I expected to see Dr. Andrew Weil on this list! Shame.

Patricia Fitzgerald D.H.M...that means Doctor of Homeopathic Medicine.

I'm confused, because Dean Ornish said that this section would be featuring EVIDENCE BASED MEDICINE.

Oh well. Caveat Emptor, as usual.

Oh spare me... without a holistic voice or two on this panel it would be nothing but traditional, drug-related BS. The fact Ornish is the head of it is bad news as it is, and no Dr. Weil? Without him the panel is incomplete. So sorry.

evidence based medicine =/= holistic + acupuncture + homeopathy
