GOP Candidate Under Fire For Calling Hitler A Strong Leader

Dane Deutsch Hitler Tweet Controversy

MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin Democrats are blasting a Republican state Senate candidate for calling Adolf Hitler a strong leader in a tweet.

Dane Deutsch of Rice Lake posted a message on his campaign Twitter account in March that read, "Hitler and Lincoln were both strong leaders. Lincoln's character made him the greater leader whose legacy and leadership still lives on!"

Deutsch says he meant that while both men influenced many people, U.S. President Abraham Lincoln had a "righteous character" while Hitler did not.

The State Senate Democratic Committee put out a statement Monday questioning whether Deutsch understood the devastation Hitler and thinks voters really need to discuss it in the election.

I'm sorry, what's wrong with calling Hitler "a strong leader"? He never said he was a great leader or a leader that should be admired. Hitler was a strong leader. If anyone disagrees with that statement is just arguing for arguments sake. Read the definition of "strong" by dictionary.com and and see if the word doesn't apply to Hitler. You'll find that it does.

One other thing, he tweeted this back in March and it's just coming out now? Talk about reaching for a reason to slander someone.

The comparison of the rise of Hitler and the tbgr movement are not without similarity.

How could a peasant and a corporal in the army rise to the supreme leadership of his country?
He first attacked the educated elitists such as teachers, professors and other professionals as traitors to the cause. Then he moved against minorities as the reason for the failure of his country.

He then elevated uneducated chicken farmers and other mid level administrators to the highest levels of power.

He raised his popularity by appealing to the most base instincts of people by saying that the founding principles of the real Germany and the Aryan race had been overrun by the impure introduction of foreigners.

Does this sound familiar? Please let us hope that we've learned a lesson in history.

"I believe today that my conduct is in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator."
Give you one guess who said that. Does it sound a lot like others you've heard?

A lot of white supremacy, anti-semitism, and racist underpinnings in the GOP candidates this season. Very -- VERY -- uncomfortable.

Strong leader does not mean good, noble, honest, humble, or any other favorable term for leader. Obama's a strong leader too, but he is pretty much as lousy at it as the day is long. LOL. Saddam Hussein, strong leader, evil guy. Mao Tse Tung (Obama's Communication's Director's "favorite" leader nonetheless)...a ruthless killer. Ghandi...strong leader, great guy, great man. Lincoln? Yup. So people ought to lighten up. Can ya tell it's election season?

I really think you're the one who's not getting it. So you want to stand by your mantra that Hitler was a strong leader. Fine. You're entitled to your opinion, as it is just that. However, how is it that whenever you idiotic 'baggers need to talk about strong leaders, Hitler is your go to guy? Out of the thousands of strong leaders that have come and gone throughout history, Hitler is your reference.

What this shows is that you astroturf groups don't know your history well enough to come up with those leaders, and that your aspirations for strong leadership come from men like Hitler.

Give it up. You guys have zero credibility when it comes to trying to give any suggestions on what makes a strong leader when you have cowards like Angle, O'Donnell, Palladino, etc., as your candidates.

Do you wanna know why nobody every talks about the good qualities of Hitler Mr. Deutsch?
It might have something to do with starting a violent war that killed over 40 million people, assembling death camps that killed 7 million men, women & children. It might also have to do with the fact that every move he made politically was to enact this plan, crushing liberty, freedom of the press and any dissenting voices at the barrel of a gun in the process. Lastly it might have to do with the fact he was a failure, who led his country to complete destruction socially, economically and physically.

You call that a strong leader Mr.Deutsch? Well, since we are on the topic of praising psychotic mass-murders, don't you think Stalin was a strong leader?

Great crop of Republicans this year. From witches to Nazi admirers. How stupid do you have to be to say something that stupid a week before election day? Especially when your last name is Deutsch.

What a bunch of BS. Hitler was no good but he was a strong leader. We have had strong leaders who lied to the people, lied us into two wars, said there were WMD's when there was not. Bad men but strong leaders.

Deutsch just lost most of the Tea Party vote. To many of them, saying Hitler was a strong leader is the same as saying Obama is a strong leader.

Hitler was a populist demagogue who created his own overblown image and ruled by fear.
That is not what goes for leadership in the US of A---yet.
