Joe Manchin Pulls The 'Crazy' Card On GOP Foe In New Attack (VIDEO)

Joe Manchin Blasts 'Crazy' GOP Opponent In New Ad

West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin is firing a fierce line of attack against Republican rival John Raese in his quest to capture his state's open U.S. Senate seat.

A new television ad out from the Democratic hopeful hammers Raese on a host of his views that have sparked controversy over the course of the campaign. The 30-second spot goes as far as to call his ideas "crazy" after montaging clips of the GOP contender communicating his positions in his own words.

"I've already been defeated three times -- that's a pretty good message from West Virginia, I think," says Raese in the compilation of footage. "But I'm going to tell you this. I don't agree with minimum wage. I'm in the business of not providing jobs. I'm in the business of making money." ... "We don't need the Department of Education" ... "We need 1,000 laser systems put in the sky and we need it right now."

A narrator's voice is then injected into the ad and says, "John Raese's ideas are crazy."

In a statement released with the ad, which comes with West Virginia's midterm election just one week away, Manchin campaign spokeswoman Lara Ramsburg issued a message seeking to enforce the hard line of attack.

"With every word he speaks, Raese proves how out of touch he is with the needs of West Virginia working families," she explained. "Probably from spending too much time in his Palm Beach mansion. ... His ideas are not only crazy, they're irresponsible."
