Inside Higher Ed:

A Pennsylvania English professor whose anti-Israel rhetoric and denial of the Holocaust as a historic certainty have ignited controversy is citing academic freedom as his defense.

Kaukab Siddique, associate professor of English and journalism at Lincoln University of Pennsylvania, appeared last month at a pro-Palestinian rally in Washington, where he called the state of Israel illegitimate. "I say to the Muslims, 'Dear brothers and sisters, unite and rise up against this hydra-headed monster which calls itself Zionism,' " he said at a rally on Sept. 3. "Each one of us is their target and we must stand united to defeat, to destroy, to dismantle Israel -- if possible by peaceful means," he added.

"Finkelstein states that his consciousness of "the Nazi holocaust" is rooted in his parents' experiences in the Warsaw ghetto; with the exception of his parents themselves, "every family member on both sides was exterminated by the Nazis".[4] Nonetheless, during his childhood, no one ever asked any questions about what his mother and father had suffered. He suggests, "This was not a respectful silence. It was indifference."[4] It was only after the establishment of "the Holocaust industry", he suggests, that outpourings of anguish over the plight of the Jews in WWII began. This ideology in turn served to endow Israel with a status as "'victim' state" despite a "horrendous" human rights record.[4]"

Siddique maintained that his comments should be placed in the framework of academic freedom, as an example of a questing mind asking tough questions. He also warned of dire consequences if universities can be intimidated by politicians and outside commentators. “That’s freedom of expression going up the smokestack here,” he said.

You cant question dogma or prepared to be burned as a herectic. That's what Holocaust Denial means.

Criticism of Zionism and the policies of the Israeli gov't is "antisemitism"? Is criticism of the policies of the gov't of, say, Saudi Arabia "anti-Muslimsm"...

From the professor's name, I'm guessing he is Muslim. I would then posit that from his (Muslim) point of view, criticism of Zionism and the policies of the Israeli gov't is a good thing, whether or not others consider it "antisemitism."

How are his comments different from any right-wing rabbi in Israel? "Don't rent to Arabs; don't date Arabs, etc..."
