Mike Birbiglia Tells A First Date Horror Story On Kimmel (VIDEO)

Mike Birbiglia is known for sharing his most awkward moments in his stand-up comedy, and last night on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" he revealed yet another hilariously awkward moment from his youth. Birbiglia sat down with Kimmel to promote his new book "Sleepwalk With Me And Other Painfully True Stories" and talked about how comedy helped give him hope of getting a date when he was younger.

In the video below, he launches into a hilarious story of a carnival date gone wrong. Let's just say you shouldn't eat too much cotton candy and funnel cakes before going on a ride called "The Scrambler" with a date.

Sixteen years old and had first date with the school QB! Heaven, or so I thought! After the biggest game of the year, he ran over to where I was sitting and asked me to jump over the fence to come out on the field with him. I thought he was going to catch me but he couldn't read minds. I jumped over the fence, landed on my leg and crumpled to the ground. I broke my leg! He hurriedly got me to his car and promptly slammed the door on my hand. I passed out! I was screaming so loudly by the time we go to the ER that they thought I was in labor. I broke my leg in 14 places and had seven bones in my hand also broken. He never asked me out again!

Even I can laugh about it now and I'm glad it gave you a giggle. It's about the best first date story I know! All of these many decades later, I wonder why I thought he was so great to begin with. I guess it was that QB cache! Good grief but we're stupid when we're young!

Thirteen years old, met my girlfriend of the week at the carnival. Went out behind the parking lot to make out. Laid down in the grass, started doing whatever the hell it is that thirteen year olds do, rolled over into a huge pile of horseshit. Mood was broken but I asked her to go steady anyway. She said, probably not.

Fortunately for my fellow countrymen, I was in Southeast Asia fighting those godless communists during the summer of '69. The tale described here would have been summer of '62. Ugh, I'm getting old.
