Awesome Old Man Makes A Jack-O-Lantern With A Gun (VIDEO)

First Posted: 10/27/10 06:39 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:10 PM ET

"Forget everything you ever learned about how to carve a Jack-O-Lantern." This is how outdoorsy YouTube user Hickok45 starts this hilarious video tutorial on how to carve a pumpkin by shooting it. Just don't forget the part where you cut off the top and scoop out the seeds -- he did that in preparation for the lesson (probably also with a gun).

As is tradition, you might have thought the whole "carving the pumpkin" part was what made Jack-O-Lantern making such a hoot, but it's 2010. We have way more exciting and efficient ways of carving our pumpkins now, like with guns! Yeah, you probably shouldn't try this at home.

P.S. This guy also has a YouTube video called "Pumpkin Killing: 10 Methods That Work," so you can rest assured that he knows what he's talking about (and that he really hates pumpkins). (Via Buzzfeed)

Liberal Dem here, and I make no excuses - I just love the fit, precision, noise, and stink of a good gun. Don't feel too bad for the pumpkin, it was doomed when it was cut off the stalk. :)

And besides that, I can't wait for the look on the Right wingers' faces when they bust in my door and look down the barrel of 12 gauge magnum buckshot coming at them.

the moderators deleted my last attempt to defend myself but here it goes again. My post was sarcastic - gun nuts hate obama, I love obama. And my mom would've picked up the sarcasm

This is really dumb and pointless. Old dude shots pumpkin two feet away and does not miss. Dam, years of using a gun really payed off. I am guessing if your the camera man your going to be great full he did miss.

I was the camera man and I'm telling you that it wasn't as easy as it looks. After the initial holes were made, the follow up shots only had less than a centimeter margin of error. Also it wasn't intended on being a display of marksmanship since we have nearly 300 videos and impressive displays can be found throughout them. The intent was to entertain and not to impress. Also I would like to add that since I am the camera man I have read nearly every comment on this page. I came to several conclusions and the clearest were that most Huffington post readers have never shot a pistol and J Ferguson has too much free time.

I'm sure that your son is very appreciative of your defense, Mrs. Hickok.

First rate marksmanship! Well done!

You think that's first rate? You should see what he can do to the broad side of a barn door!

Firearms are a very positive aspect of recreation. You can enjoy yourself in a swimming pool or with a gun. Either can lead to tragedy if care is not taken.

Kids! What ever you do...do not play on this mans' lawn.
06:09 PM on 10/29/2010
Why? Should children fear that trespassing on a gun-owner's property might result in them being shot?

Nobody is saying this is a great feat of marksmanship. It isn't. But is does take practice and concentration. Hint: Using any gun which will penetrate a piece of paper, Airsoft, BB, .22 firing CBs or a Glock .45, your choice, fire one round at a piece of paper at close range, with a proper back-stop of course. Then, using the hole in the paper as a point of reference fire another just to the right or left and keep on repeating the process. Evaluate. You will likely have a diagonal line falling away in the direction in which you were shooting. Why? Because at close range the bullet will strike about 1/2 inch BELOW your POI (point of aim). Why? Because your sights are located ABOVE the bore-line of your pistol. The shooter in this vid obviously compensated for this fact. Guns are fun. Like any other power tool they CAN be dangerous if misused or mishandled. Stay safe and shoot often.

Unintended double post. Sometimes my posts do not appear in my browser as having been either posted, deleted or awaiting moderation. I then assume they were never received and try to make the post again.
