Lewis Black And Craig Ferguson At The El Rey Theatre

Lewis Black Is 'Dreaming Of A Black Christmas' At El Rey Theatre

Who: Comedians, authors, and television personalities Lewis Black and Craig Ferguson.

What: Lewis Black speaks with Craig Ferguson of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson about Black's latest book, I'm Dreaming Of A Black Christmas. The book is his collection of holiday musings, which would be quaint if Black didn't have a reputation for being the "only person I know who can actually yell in print form" (Jon Stewart).

When: November 2, 2010 at 7:30 pm

Where: El Rey Theatre, 5515 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90036

How: Get tickets here.

Why: The seats to Live Talks Los Angeles (co-presented by 89.3 KPCC and KCET) sell out quickly--the only tickets left are the bundle of reserved seats, reception attendance, and Black's book for $95. We think it's well worth the price, since the reserved seating will save you the trouble of fighting with Lewis Black fans, surely spit-talkers seething with suppressed rage. That'll leave you enough time to enjoy the closed reception at a leisurely pace. And if you get your book signed by Lewis Black at the event, it would make a perfect holiday gift for that surly nephew or lovable curmudgeon in your life. Also, net proceeds from the event benefit 89.3 KPCC, Southern California Public Radio.

From the event site:

"Lewis' performances provide a cathartic release of anger and disillusionment for his audience. Lewis yells so they don't have to. He's a passionate performer who is more pissed off optimist than mean-spirited curmudgeon; he's perfected expressing what the rest of us cannot say in polite company. Lewis is the rare comic who can cause an audience to laugh themselves into incontinence while making compelling points about the absurdity of our world."
