Sharron Angle Camp Cuts Out TV Reporters, Will Detail Positions After Election

Sharron Angle

WASHINGTON -- The fractious relationship between Sharron Angle and the press continued on Friday when she steadfastly refused to answer policy questions while walking through the airport and then, through aides, abruptly shut down television access to her campaign.

Posting on his twitter account Jon Ralston, one of the state's top political reporters, said that the Angle campaign had announced that following a run-in with the media they would be banning television reporters "from events now." In a follow up email to The Huffington Post, Ralston elaborated a bit: "TVs were waiting when she returned this AM. Took a question or two but spokeswoman said they were disrespectful and now banned from Election Night festivities."

A call and email to the Angle campaign seeking further clarification went unreturned.

The offending incident seems to have happened when CBS Nevada reporter Nathan Baca tried to approach Angle during a stroll through the airport and the airport parking lot with questions about her foreign policy views.

After going through several evasive answers, an irritated Angle replied: "I will answer those questions when I'm the senator."

Pressed as to whether she didn't think it was appropriate to further outline her position on the dual wars in which the U.S. is engaged, she came back with a memorable rejoinder: "You know, the two wars that we are in right now are exactly what we are in."

The entire exchange is worth a look if nothing else because it shows the depths of frustration to which the Nevada press corps has been reduced. Should Angle win the Senate election -- and signs point to that likelihood -- it will send a fairly chilling message to other candidates running for office: mainly, you don't have to talk to the press to get into public office.

I really hope those words come back to haunt on on 11/3/10. Nevadans I hope you know better than to send that woman to Congress, can't you look at her and tell she's missing a few screws?

I had no idea Nevada was doing so well. Since they are about to elect someone who, by her own admission, will not bring jobs to the state that leaves all those evil federal dollars for other states. Thank you Nevada. With your excellent infrastructure and great job market you are leaving more government money for others!

Nevadans are flushing any hope of climbing out of this recession in anything less than a decade down the toilet by voting this ignorant dolt into office. Sadly we're going to be able to point an laugh at the Nevadans who are still out of work in 4-5 years and ask them how that voting for Angle thing has worked out.

Interesting to note that Angle was "polling" down by 3% the day before winning the primary with a 14% margin. That's a 17% swing. Reid is "polling" around 3% down...

Who votes for a candidate when they don't even know what they have to say for themselves?! For a lot of people, interviews with candidates aired on television is as close as they get to having some of their questions answered by the candidate.

Essentially, she can't be bothered to speak to the American people until the hire her for the job - pretty sucky 'interview process' and good insight into how she will keep all her activities secretive from the people of Nevada if she's elected - frightening. Someone else banned journalists from all of his gatherings too and when they wrote about him, he crushed them (kinda’ like the O’Donnell’s camp threatening that news station).. just saying. The very people who are telling you to be weary of that kind of activity, are in fact the people who are behaving like they have something to hide but until they start making people wear arm bands showing their support for their political party of choice, you should be okay.

While I'm not a big fan of Harry Reid, I cannot imagine myself voting for Sharron Angle especially after watching her refuse to answer any legitimate questions. She is like a stealth candidate hoping not to be picked up by radar before the election.

Hubris. I hope she loses. Sounds like Joe Miller who was counting his proverbial chickens before they hatched. I hope he loses too. Just to make it interesting, I hope that Alvin Greene pulls off an upset (even though the voting machines are already stacked against him).

Mainstream media has created this and other 'bagger monsters. Wait till they get into office. Press? Interviews? Forget it.

FOURTH ESTATE went belly-up on this narrative "tea party darlings."

Yes thanks MSM.

Sounds like Rove will be preaching Legislative Privilege after touting it for the Executive Branch for so long. All these teabag candidates are puppets, just like our former "president".

Why would anybody vote for a person like this?

Seriously, what is the point, since she won't clarify her positions on anything all you'd have to rely on would be advertising by her, and by the opposition.

NV voters, this is pretty simple.

The woman doesn't have any ideas on how to solve NV's or America's problems. That's why she doesn't respond.

This will not change if she's elected. The label "Senator" will not automatically bless her with any knowledge or special skills with which to help lead.

What's more, voting for her just mucks up life for the rest of us so please don't do it.
