Trick Or Treat?: Officials Warn Parents About Pot-Laced Halloween Candy

MONTEREY PARK, Calif. -- L.A. County officials are warning parents to be on the look-out for Halloween treats laced with marijuana.

Officials say pot treats, such as candy bars and lollipops are sold in marijuana dispensaries and could be circulating around.

"These lollipops, candy bars, they look pretty legitimate. The problem is if it gets in the wrong hands and a kid licks a lollipop, they get ill or intoxicated," said Cpt. Ralph Ornelas of the L.A. County Sheriff's Department.

Fear tactics. Pathetic.

As I understand it (and correct me here if you like) medicinal candy is clearly labeled and I would suspect that it would have a smell to it that would not match standard candy.

Parents should never give their children candy that is not clearly name brand or professionally wrapped - but not for the fear of pot - but for the fear of (as I remember from being a kid) razor blades, poison, or just bad candy.

Here's what I'd like everyone to do - first - vote on Tuesday - second - next time there is a local election - pay attention - vote for the honest folks who are not going to use fear tactics to get their way and who are not going to lie to you to get their vote. We tend to ignore local elections- I get they're not sexy but hey - they're in many ways far more important - look what happened to Texas' School Board - that could happen anywhere.

You can see who really has power the drug dealers-cartels corrupt cops- DEA agents- big banks who launder the money-

I don't think there will be that many pot candies getting into your children's baskets- Parents are very careful where they take theirs these days- not like when I was a kid-
