Ruby, Berlusconi Sex Scandal Expands As Berlusconi Speaks Out

Ruby Berlusconi

In the midst of yet another sex scandal, this one involving 17-year-old aspiring model widely known as "Ruby," Berlusconi defended his lifestyle, saying "I love life, I love women," according to the AP.

Berlusconi acknowledged that he "helped" Ruby after she was arrested in May for theft, but says he did not interfere in the justice system, the AP reports. The Italian paper Corriere della Sera is reporting that a phone call was made on Ruby's behalf claiming that she was the daughter of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, says the AP. Opposition groups have called for Berlusconi's resignation if it proves that he abused his power to secure Ruby's release.

Ruby's allegations have been at times contradictory, and center around her attendance at "bunga-bunga" parties, apparently a reference to lewd behavior at the PM's luxurious villa. Karima Keyek, the girl's real name, has denied having sex with the 74-year-old media tycoon, but has given details of the parties to the police.

The PM has been accused of similar events before, including an alleged affair last year with Noemi Letizia, an aspiring model, after he attended her eighteenth birthday party and gave her an expensive necklace. Berlusconi denied the affair. The allegations are also being compared with the scandal over Patrizia D'Addario, a call girl who claimed to have been paid to sleep with Berlusconi. The Catholic magazine La Famiglia Cristiana has described Berlusconi's penchant for beautiful women as "a disease, something uncontrollable," reports the Telegraph.

Berlusconi is facing other pressures at home, including an EU austerity push and a trash crisis in Naples.

Berlusconi's lawyer has now been holding meetings with other young women who attended parties at the villa, the Guardian is reporting.

Sexual addiction is a psychological condition in which an individual is unable to control their sexual behavior. Some experts believe that sexual addiction is actually a form of obsessive compulsive disorder and refer to it as sexual compulsivity.
The addict will feel ashamed and fall into depression, the temporary cure is to engage in sexual activity, the cycle then self perpetuates!

If the Prime Minister is a sex aficionado then why not put him in a cell with as many prostitutes as he likes to have. At least that would save the nation's face been smeared with black sooth.

What is left now to save? The PM has made the Entire Nation naked in front of the world community. If nation of Italy is happy, why should we bother and worry of their prestige, honor and dignity.

One thing for sure. non of you aren't so use to sincerity like Silvio's. Here in America the politicians are more pervert playing the "puritanic-game" and always denying the evidence[ at any cost] And then they all end up cry like imbeciles, apologizing.

Hey I do not approve what this italian leader does, But Americans shouldn't be the ones to critized. capito?

Why shouldn't we? You've never heard Italians criticize America's leaders? I've lived in Italy for 10 years. During the Bush years, Italians complained to me constantly about Bush and couldn't believe that Americans voted him in twice. They were extremely critical. (Of course, so was I as I was no fan of Bush.) It's human nature to observe and criticize or praise. Yes, Berlusconi is the Italian leader, not the American leader, but so what? You never criticized American leaders in your life? Anyway, I don't think Silvio is going to get any points for his "sincerity." How sincere was he when he called the Questura and asked them to "release Mubarak's niece"?

Besides the grossness of a 74 years old entertained by young racy girls who could be his granddaughters and the humiliation of his kids - the wife wisely called herself out - and the whole Country, worst of all is the abuse of power - the phone call to police headquarter for her liberation - and the fabrication of the girl's identity - granddaughter of the Egyptian President. I really hope this will finally kick him out from the government and any other public institution.

Italy isn't America & voters don't get upset if a politician has a fling with a young girl. They're a lot like the French that way -- the reaction's generally 'good for him.'

Actually, that is not true of all Italians. In any case, they are furious about his abuse of power - lying to the police about her identity and asking them to be released instead of prosecuted for theft. That was Saraudm's point. Very few are saying "good for him" for abusing his power.

this is just another chapter in the PM Berlusconi soap opera as he dates under age girls, cheated on his wife who is divorcing him, made questionable appointments based on sexual favors. hardly the moral standard of any Euro PM. Berlusconi must resign.

Emperor Berlusconi carries on a fine Roman tradition. Yahoo Italy is saying he has given her a car. I hope he is using his own money and not the tax payers.
01:30 PM on 11/01/2010
I don't know in this case, but what politicians do with the tax payers' money is still a mystery ...
03:34 PM on 11/01/2010
Why are you libelling all italian politicians? Mr.Premier is wealthy enough to afford any whim he may have with his own money, don't you agree? Here the issue is merely political. Get more infos, please, then speak.

You must consider two relevant questions. First of all, Berlusconi controls Italian media directly or indirectly -- he also plays a major role in the advertisement market ...

Secondly, in Italy exists a complex system of connivances, blackmails, corruption and, of course, criminality involving both the right and the left. It relies on the absence of a real welfare state and rooted democracy.

This is a very old story. Nothing can change with a very effective propaganda in such a system.

The opposition had the possibility to stop him, but it didn’t do anything -- with the exception of few, isolated personalities in minority parties -- for examples to address the issue of the conflict of interests …

At the moment, we don’t have anymore a Parliamentary democracy: The Parliament passes few laws, the Government is legislating through decrees which should be used only in exceptional cases, quite emergencies. And, we don't choose our MPs, but we vote just a list, so all the parties can send who they want.

We are not citizens, we are subjects who must ask for favours in a clientelism, or better, feudal system to survive.
03:35 PM on 11/01/2010
He still need the votes to stay in power, vote rigging would be immensely hard inside the EU. So the question is: don´t Italians have even a fragment of the knowledge that outsiders have or don´t they just care?
03:44 PM on 11/01/2010
These are your personal opinions which I don't share at all, and with me possibly many hundreds of thousand italians. It's unbearable that you are libelling my Country in this way and I want to tell everyone in this forum that you are a liar. Italy IS a democratic Country. Now if you like you can bring an action against me.
