The San Francisco Giants' first World Series win (and the franchise's first since 1954) was sure to inspire several excited newspaper front pages, and the California papers did not disappoint. Several papers went beyond the standard "FINALLY!" and "WORLD CHAMPS!"-type headlines to deliver clever takes on the milestone.

Below, scroll through some of the best World Series front pages, and see some sad Texas papers' reactions near the end:

As a Rangers fan, I applaud the Giants, and love what the Fort Worth Star Telegram did.

Hey Tails - over the last couple of weeks I've become familiar with you through your various posts (& several others regular posters) in the baseball threads. Now with baseball season over, feels like it's the last day of school & won't "see" people again. Good luck to you & your Rangers next year.

Very John Hughes. Hahaha. Well, I'm sure there will be plenty of Free Agent/Trade articles and columns.

Truth be told, I've grown to like most of the Giants fans. Only a very few were [are] still stuck in Bushland. Haha. I was happily proven wrong, sanity won out.

As a baseball fan I tip my cap to the Giants for a great year and a well-deserved World Series Championship, their first in San Francisco; as a Yankee fan I'd like to congratulate former Yankee great and Giants pitching coach Dave Righetti for a great job and for getting the ring that eluded him in The Bronx. Cheers, gentlemen!

Bye Bye Bushies. The Rangers are Dubya's baby. SOOO glad they lost, besides tired of seeing George Washington I meant Barbara Bush eating free hotdogs. They go to all the sporting events in Houston and everyone stand up and gives them an ovation. I refuse to stand up and I quit going to all Houston events because of it.

As a kid growing up in the Bronx I was an avid Giants fan. When they left in 1958 it was a stab in the back. But 52 years in purgatory is enough. As I and many other old NY Giants fans have since relocated to California I guess its time to forgive and forget. Go Giants!

hey guy, I can relate to that...I remember my mom let me stay home from school (in the Bronx, PS106) to watch the series . I remember Willie Mays and his catch, spin-around and throw on Vic Wertz. I also am located in CA...It's about time for a GIANTS win... BEST WISHES!!!! ;-)

The best thing about the world series game was getting to watch the sick look on Bush's face at the 7th inning when the Giants pulled ahead 3 - 0.

It was a great series and the Giants pitching line up dominated. Goth Boy 55 ruled the mound and having Blackbeard close sealed the deal.

Upon first reading Fort Worth's Star Telegram "It Was Still A Dream Season "

I read It Was Still A Wet Dream

seriously, I had to go back and read it again.

I don't like baseball and it airing disrupts my viewing on Fox. I want to watch 'Seinfeld' at 7:30, damn it!
