PHOTOS: Barbara Boxer Celebrates, Whitman Concedes In Los Angeles

Barbara Boxer gave the keynote address and her victory speech at the Los Angeles Democratic Party viewing party at the Renaissance-Hollywood Hotel. She was joined by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Controller John Chiang, and Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis. The Daily Titan of Cal State Fullerton reports Villaraigosa's quip: " 'They say money can't buy me love,' Villaraigosa said. 'Apparently it can't buy an election either.' "

Meanwhile at Universal City, Meg Whitman was cheered on by tearful supporters as she gave her concession speech during her intended victory celebration. The Christian Science Monitor reports that Whitman ended the night with a final petition to her staff, volunteers, and supporters:

"Because we are about California's future, I have one more request of you. If we all work together to demand change from Sacramento, a new California will rise. Let's never lose sight of what united us: a hope of good jobs, smarter government and better schools for our kids and our grandkids."
