In Cuba, American Ballet Theater and City Ballet Dance

HAVANA -- Silvia Robinson knows her ballet and she knows how she likes it: classical. Or so this 70-year-old Cuban widow believed before she saw what's being billed as the Stars of New York City Ballet perform works by Christopher Wheeldon and Jerome Robbins at the Mella Theater here on Monday...Their visit is the latest in a growing number of cultural encounters allowed under President Obama despite a lack of political headway in American-Cuban relations since he took office nearly two years ago. The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra held a weeklong residency here in October, and Cuban musicians like Silvio Rodríguez and Chucho Valdés have toured the United States this year for the first time in quite a while.
