Nancy Pelosi Interview: 'No Regrets,' 'Job Well Done' (VIDEO)

Nancy Pelosi gave her first interview since the 2010 midterm elections on Wednesday, telling ABC's Diane Sawyer that she has "no regrets" about her tenure as Speaker of the House. When asked to evaluate her time on the job, Pelosi said, "Job well done."

Pelosi will lose her gavel in January, when Republicans take over the lower chamber. In her interview on "World News," the Speaker was clear that she is proud of her accomplishments: "I believe we came here to get a job done. And that's what we did."

Pelosi attributes Democrats' disastrous electoral performance to the economy. "Nine and a half percent unemployment is a very eclipsing event. If people don't have a job, they're not too interested in how you intend for them to have a job. They want to see results," she said on "World News."

Pelosi, who became the first female Speaker of the House in 2007, told Sawyer that she does not mind being a constant target of GOP attacks. "They have used me as a personification of health care and the rest," she said. "I take that as a compliment."

Pelosi also discussed a conversation she had with President Obama after Tuesday's elections:

"Well, I don't usually discuss my conversations with the President, but you can just imagine that it was a call in which I had spoken to him twice yesterday, earlier in the day, and then in the evening. And, and we expressed pride in the work that we had done, sadness over the loss of the members who would not be returning. But again, no regrets about the health care for all Americans, consumer protections of an historic nature, Wall Street reform, the list goes on-- as to the agenda that we've put forth."

As for what's next for the Speaker, Pelosi says she has not made up her mind. "I'll have a conversation with my caucus, I'll have a conversation with my family, and pray over it, and decide how to go forward," she said in the interview. "But today isn't that day," Pelosi continued.

On Tuesday, Republicans won more than 60 seats to seize control of the House of Representatives. Pelosi called the result "very disappointing."

Who could have guessed the Second Coming was going to be a woman from California? I've got to admit I sure didn't see that one coming.
The miracles of the the years 2007-10 speak for themselves. More unemployment, refusal to address the immigration issue, the on-going economical disaster, the insanity of continuing two wars (Iran is STILL going on-changing the name of what is happenings only worked for George Bush), the list goes on.
Yepper, NO regrets. Maybe she should be bronzed.

I wonder why so many Americans cannot see the wonderfulness of President Mom-jeans, Nancy and Harry's nanny-state that tells us how to run our lives, it's worked wonders in the past for Lenin's Russia, Mao's China, Hitler's Germany, Ho Chi Minh's Vietnam; and today Kim il Sung's North Korea, Robert Mugabe's Zimbabwe, Fidel's Cuba.

Maybe we Americans just like our individual rights as protected by the Constitution left alone, even by the really, really smart "progressives" that know what's best for everybody else, off my middle schooler's national credit card of course, and after they take their fat cut, tenured jobs and guaranteed pensions off the top.

Pelosi is a career politician who has done little for her own people. She has gotten wealthy off corporate sponsorship, voted for war and torture as well as rendition and disappearances. That alone makes her guilty of war crimes by association. As for health care, she bailed on the public option or allowing everyone to participate in Medicare. Continuing to elect this corporate dog is in no one's best interest.

She's says she is proud of all the jobs she created---what jobs??

She is proud of cutting the deficit--The deficit has gone up by almost 40% since she took over in 2007.

What is this woman looking at? She might be a very nice person, however she is clueless. Jobs...what jobs? Deficit--her free spending ways have increased the deficit.
And her classic line---"We need to pass HCR so we can see what is in the bill". Are you kidding me??

We the polls must pass HCR so you the voters can see how it benefits you is easier to understand. That makes sense to me since there is a right wing non stop talk radio fusilade blasting 24/7 at it with all forms of half truths and flat out lies. It was impossible to have fact based discussions.
