Coco the African Grey is a favourite at the council's Pet's Corner facility but Angelo Ferlazzo claims the bird belongs to him and he wants him back.
Mr Ferlazzo, 50, said he bought the parrot from a pet shop in Harlow, Essex, in 1984 and spent months training him to make him tame.

C'mon now. This guy does not have a leg to stand on. He basically abandoned the bird years and years ago. His ex, who became owner of the bird, passed him on (as many people do ... sadly) only in this case the bird went from a family of one to a much larger family of people who work at this pet store as well as the customers and the other animals in the store. In effect, the bird's flock grew significantly. I will grant that there are probably some significant things the bird misses -- long cuddles in front of the tv, play outside, probably others -- but there are benefits too -- lots of stimulation, lots of friends, more toys than he knows what to do with!

I wish this bird well. I hope he's happy.
