Thomas Roberts, 'Countdown' Guest Host, Discusses Olbermann Suspension (VIDEO)

The guest-host on MSNBC's "Countdown" discussed Keith Olbermann's suspension from the network at the end of the show.

Thomas Roberts, who filled in after The Nation's Chris Hayes backed out of the guest-hosting slot, opened "Countdown" with a promise to address Olbermann's suspension and concluded with an explanation of the situation.

"Last night, MSNBC management became aware of three political contributions that Keith made to three different candidates last week," Roberts said. "The contributions are not permitted by NBC News without prior approval. In light of those facts, Keith has been suspended indefinitely."

We know all of you are looking forward to Keith's return, and so are we," Roberts added.

Roberts also made a lighter reference to the situation during a segment about Nancy Pelosi.

"It's always hard when you jump in the middle of some type of power contest," he said. "Trust me."

Roberts needs his own slot on MSNBC.
I'm all for Chris Jansing's tedious 2-hour morning gab-fest on MSNBC getting the axe.
Thomas Roberts would be a welcome substitute.

He did a great job! At first I was miffed because it felt like someone was crossing the picket line BUT then I thought again and realized the presence of Keith's show MUST not be silenced. I'm glad Mr. Roberts took this on and did such a fine job with it! Good for you. Thanks!

Countdown is the only show I watch every day and I will not be tuning in as long as this suspension is going on.

Also, kudos to Chris Hayes for not doing the show as well.

I don't even know who this fill-in guy is, but the fact that they had to dig this deep to find a warm body to do the show speaks volumes about how much support MSNBC has within ranks over this move.

Thomas Roberts is an MSNBC daytime anchor. He used to anchor at CNN and CNN Headline News.

Protest people. Do not watch MSNBC even for a day! Keep on it. Don't let them dictate because it runs far deeper than this. Take stock and really lean forward.....Follow the clues and connect the dots. Time for a liberal network.
