Bobby Jindal Blasts 'Men Behaving Badly' -- But Not David Vitter -- In New Book

Bobby Jindal Book

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal is out with a new book that, among other topics, pulls no punches on the notorious sexual indiscretions of some of Washington's players -- with two notable exceptions: Sen. David Vitter, his Louisianan compatriot, and former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich.

The book is now titled "Leadership and Crisis" after undergoing a facelift from the original "Real Hope, Real Change" when the book was delayed from its July release due to the BP oil spill. It tackles five major areas, which you can see in the Washington Post's review here.

Interestingly enough, however, one of the fields that Jindal decides to cover is "Men Behaving Badly," a detailed rebuke of a bipartisan group of high-profile philanderers that, according to the Post, includes "John Ensign, Mark Sanford, Larry Craig, John Edwards and Bill Clinton."

"Taking advantage of others, or exploiting powerful positions to enrich ourselves or to feed our own appetites, is the opposite of real leadership," Jindal writes.

Noticeably spared from his critique are Sen. David Vitter, a focal point of the infamous "D.C. Madam" prostitution ring, and Newt Gingrich, who allegedly discussed his affair with Bill Clinton while serving as Speaker of the House.

As the Post points out, the sparing of Gingrich from the record seems to make sense considering that the conservative powerhouse lent his name to a back cover blurb singing Jindal's accolades.

As for Vitter, perhaps Jindal just decided that it would be best to ignore the misdeeds of his fellow statesman. After all, a report from this summer showed that a large portion of Louisianans were unaware of Vitter's wrongdoing. And despite an intense effort by Democrat Charlie Melancon to remind the electorate of the senator's dark past, Vitter still coasted to reelection.

As a first generation American Bobby is a fast learner. The real test will come in his political career if he tries to go outside Louisiana. He may expect the GOP to toss him a bone if they take the White House in 2012 so by letting Newt and Vitter off the hook he has not yet made any old guard enemies. Of course it turns his book into just another politicians way to get attention and demonstrate their  Read More...

A political heckler, Mr. Jindal thinks his commentary contributes something to the dialog, yet everyone just finds him annoying and useless.

He was a nonentity in 09 when he tried to rebut the State of the Union. This year, his motto is "SPILL BABY SPILL". His book (excuse the expression) cherry-picks the politicians who commit infidelity. And what's he done to rebuild the Ninth Ward? He hasn't exactly set the GOP ablaze.

Insofar as Senator Vitter is concerned, perhaps the Huffington Post should expose all of the other names on the lists of the Washington D.C. madame and the Canal Street Madame. Time for all the trash to be hung out to dry, not just one.

Vitters live too close to home. Gov. Jingles spares Vitters....and Vitters spares Jingles.

Jindal is an opportunist with a strong grasp of statistics and a heart of stone.
He is a superb policy wonk as long as he doesn't have to consider human costs.
He believes so strongly in his intellectual superiority that he is unbelieveably patronizing and condescending to almost everyone.
Calling our political men behaving badly and failing to mention Vitter or Gingrich (or Hastert) in his litany is par for the course. If it's not about numbers, Jindal just doesn't get it.
Jindal was elected on promises to "clean up Louisiana and institute a strong ethical base in government." Yet the Louisiana governor's office is rated the lowest in the country for transparency. Ethics is for everyone else; Jindal is above it (or so he seems to think.)

Sorry Jindal. The GOP found another immigrant to boost their credibility and its Rubio. Lets see how long that show lasts.

Maybe Bobby sells pampers on the side and didn't want to lose Vitter's business.

Bobby is just trying to get some attention after his failed and childish Republican response to President Obama's first speech. He was scared to put Vitter and Newt's names in the book. Can we just call him chicken Jindal?
