We went on a tour through Berlin and seeing the Wall there, had a profound impact on me. I think I was in shock for a long while, not just because I was so young then, but that effect it had on me. Thinking back 30 years later, its something that will stay forever in your mind.

I walked through Checkpoint Charlie into East Berlin back in the 1960s. Now that was scary. It is hard to imagine what being in a totalitarian state is like until you actually experience it.
I was tailed my whole time in East Berlin. Pissed off the tail when I hid and then jumped out and smiled at him.
Managed to get the East German border guards all upset and yelling at me when half way through the concrete barriers separating East and West I decided to to stop and take a break. Nothing says "you're a freak" like having assault rifle toting border guards waving their rifles and yelling at you. Ah, those were the days.
