Infamous ponzi schemer Bernie Madoff may be spending his final years at the Butner Federal Correctional Complex in North Carolina, but his stuff lives on. Federal Marshals are holding an auction of Madoff's personal property in Brooklyn on Saturday, and gave a preview of his wares on Wednesday. All the proceeds go to the Department of Justice's Asset Forfeiture Fund, which will compensate the victims of his massive fraud.
Among his vast collection are jewels, watches, suits, furniture, and what looks like a thousand pairs of colorful loafers. As despicable a figure as Madoff is, it's a slight (evil?) thrill to poke through his stuff.
